Civilization - the progression

Hi,

Can someone give me a site that explains the various ages and revolutions in civilization?

For example.
Stone Age
Bronze Age
Agricultural
Industrial Revolution
Information Age

Also a good bonus would be a site that ranks the various inventions and discoveries and its importance with civilization’s progression.
Thanks

Wikipedia is always a good place to start for these types of questions. If you can’t find your answer there, there will probably be links that will help. But keep in mind that “civilization” is not always one, straight progress from specific phases to other phases everywhere on earth.

Stone Age - Mainly stone tools
Bronze Age - Emerging Bronze tools
Agricultural Revolution - Beginning of settled farming communities and the start of specialization
Industrial Revolution - Beginning of mass mechanization of production especially through the use of steam and coal
Information Age - Beginning of people asking broad pointless questions on message boards with little background effort

:D:D:D

lol.

honestly though i did try. maybe not super hard as it’s not that important.
There isn’t a site that summarizes it very nicely that I could find… about 3 or 4 pages into google results.
Try and search.
There is a lot of Civilization the game hits.

Phrases I used,

Civilization revolution
Civilization history
civilization timeline
some others

Part of you problem searching for information on this will be that you are mixing up different things. Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age all have specific meanings in archaeology; “agricultural” is just a word without context, Industrial Revolution is a key idea from 18th/19th century history, and Information Age is just a journalist’s tag for the last twenty odd years.

You could try here. The UK TV series Timeteam has a good web site with clear descriptions of the archaeological ages (starting with the palaeolithic - the old stone age) and a sections on the Industrial Revolution.

I just typed into Google “archaeology ages history prehistoric”
First link Prehistory - Wikipedia covers the main prehistoric ages + the Agricultural revolution. Remember that the Green Revolution is a different beast.

Your problem seems to be thinking of history as what has happened as opposed to what has happened that we have written record for. The Stone and Bronze ages tended to be written record poor.
