Agreed with both. Since it’s against the rules to call people trolls except in the Pit, I’ll not risk a warning. I’ll just use the report icon and quietly report it.

So, to me, what Irishman (and others ;)) suggest is useful and costs relatively little in additional typing time. This is a practice I will be following. (What - no “smugness reigns supreme” smilie? We need one. It’s the current word de, well, not jour. What’s French for “short, rather undefined unit of time” but longer than a day?)

Yes, you are quite right, it was a crummy example on my part.
I think my post was more specific about why it comes across that way. Or maybe it was more terse. 
To clarify, there are times when it is meant to be helpful, and there are times when it is meant in a sarcastic and snarky manner. The times it is meant to be snarky are generally times when there are no rules violations, but someone is asserting something is annoying and thus should be a violation of the rules, or something is being snarked as if it is an insult, etc.

Actually, come to think of it, it may just have been more of a timing issue on Dex’s part. (i.e. - he had just started his day, yours was the most recent post about the subject, etc. Trying to be understanding here, sounds like he’s been having it rough, upon reading some other threads here.)
