Classic actors and movies today

Despite being a huge John Wayne fan, Ivylad somehow missed seeing Back to Bataan, which was on this afternoon. It got me to thinking…I wonder how famous actors of the 30s and 40s would think of movies today?

I think John Wayne would have liked Saving Private Ryan. I think he would have laughed himself silly over Pearl Harbor. I think Jimmy Stewart would have appreciated Schindler’s List. I don’t just mean the special effects…I mean the plots and storylines.

I miss Eve. I bet she’d have some great insight.

Since the classic actors of the old studio system spent maybe two weeks of the year working on a good movie, and the rest of the time earning their paychecks in grind-it-out, fomulaic junk, I think most of them would probably be fine with today’s product.
