Classic TV Moments

Tim Conway cracking Harvey Korman up with his deadpan delivery of a very weird character. (Carol Burnett)

Eunice, Mama and Ed playing “Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry!!” (Carol Burnett)

Otis locking himself in the jail cell with the keys hanging on the wall. (Andy Griffith)

A monkey perching himself on top of Johnny Carson’s head. (The Tonight Show)

Lucy and Ethel stuffing chocolates in their mouths. (I Love Lucy)

Cliffy pontificating at the bar. (Cheers)

Donny pretending he had a brain injury to get out of working. (Just Shoot Me)

Even more specific with the Harvey Korman/Tim Conway thing, the joke about the Siamese twin elephants…when they sneeze…

I haven’t seen this for many years and it still brings tears to my eyes. It’s probably the funniest moment in sitcom history. As I understand it, the last part of it was ad-libbed because of the audience reaction. Thanks for the link.

Dallas : Pam Ewing waking up to find Bobby in the shower - his death and the entire preceding season was a dream. Also: the classic "Who Shot J.R.? season cliffhanger.

Miami Vice: Crockett and Tubbs in a Ferrari as “In the Air Tonight” plays along

The Cosby Show: The Huxtable family lip-synching performances for the grandparents’ anniversary

Alfred Hitchcock’s silhouette.

Roger Serling introducing the latest “Twilight Zone” story.

The ‘who shot J.R.?’ cliffhanger brouhaha.

Arte Johnson saying “Vedddy INNNNT-eresteeeng!”

The kitten meowing at the end of every MTM Production. (What a lot of folks forget from the final episode of “St. Elsewhere” is that it showed the kitten lying comatose with a “blip” from a heart-monitor sounding throughout it’s closing credits. At the very end, the kitty flatlines.)

“Space, the final frontier…”

“Mr. McGee don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”

“Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger…no Coke, pepsi.”

Rod Serling

Roger Ebert & Gene Siskel: “Thumbs [up or down].”

Richard Nixon on Laugh-in: “Sock it to me!”

The MTM (Mary Tyler More Productions)Kitten is itself a parody of the MGM Lion.

Nice clip, but …

“What colour are my eyes”
“Call 'em … brown”
“Okey-doke … W… F”

huh?

I take it there’s some nuance I’m missing here.

It’s “W…N”. Last 2 letters of “brown”.

Columbo…“One more thing.”

:::starggering around::: This is the big one! Elizabeth, I’m comin’ to join you, honey.

WKRP in Cincinnati: Art Carlson says, "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.. Ok, so the classic line is not in this clip, but Les Nessman’s report of the attack is.

SSG Schwartz

Radar O’Reilly looking up from whatever was going on and announcing “choppers” before anyone else could hear them.

And him handing Henry Blake things before he asked for them.

And when they announced that Blake died on the way home while everyone was in surgery. THAT still makes my eyes water.

The final moments of the “$99,000 Answer” episode of The Honeymooners.

I’ll never forget the look on Jackie Gleason’s face when the announcer asks him, “Who is the composer of Swannee River?”

Fonzie improbably thumping anything apparently broken to make it not only work, but violate the laws of physics in Fonzie’s favour.

When the 3rd Rock people picked up the Big Giant Head at the airport:

Dick: Did you have a good flight?
BGH: No, I kept seeing some creature out on the plane’s wing.
Dick: The same thing happened to MMMEEEEEE!

Oh, yeah…that was one of those sublime moments when an incredibly cool metagag actually comes off perfectly.

Fonzie jumping the shark on waterskis (You were all thinking it! Admit it!)
