Classical Music ID?

I don’t know if it is possible, but perhaps the SD can try to ID a popular classical piece by its use? It appears in many cartoons when there is a domestic scene, like Bugs Bunny doing housework or laundry. Or, it may be a cartoon character caring for a baby (like, as an example, Sylvester the Cat dressed up as a baby to fool Granny to get at Tweety yelling “Baby wants pretty birdie!”). Again, these are just examples where this music MIGHT be played in the background, but I am not saying it DEFINITELY is.

One more clue: It is totally a piano piece, no other instrument.
Any guesses?

It’s not this one, is it?

Or Brahms’ Lullaby? Particularly since you mentioned the music appearing during a scene with a baby.

I don’t suppose you have a specific example you could link to?

**This is the first piece I thought of:
**
Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major

This was my thought too.

Either Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonataor Für Elise

If not, try watching thisand see if you can find the piece.

Domestic scenes often featured A Cup of Coffee, A Sandwich and You

Don’t know if that’s the one the OP is looking for, but it should be.

I must say, I vastly prefer** this one:**

The song I remember from the scenes you describe is Sir Henry Bishop’s Home Sweet Home.

Two more possibilities, the second of which was in Peter Morris’s last link:

Luigi Boccherini: Minuet from String Quintet in E major, Op.11, No. 5; arranged for piano

Mozart’s piano sonata K331, third movement (Rondo alla Turca)

Isn’t that normally played on a shmalzy violin? :dubious:
