Last night the Cleveland Symphony was on PBS. They did a piece called Atmospheres that I was interested in buying, but I didn’t catch the composers name. It had some v’s and z’s in it, I think. I know squat about classical music, if that wasn’t obvious. The piece was really dissonant and almost entirely lacking in melody. They also mentioned it was used in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Anyone familiar with it?

(I probably should have posted this in GQ, but I haven’t been able to get into GQ for the last week or so.)
