Yes, except I think lack of sexual experience is much more of a stigma for men than for women. Long-term virginity for women still has some lingering positive connotations of purity and high standards. Sexual inexperience in adult men, though, tends to be pretty savagely despised and mocked (at least as much by other men as by women).
Not that I’m arguing that anybody has any kind of right to sexual experience, as the California killer attempted to claim. But calling guys “losers” etc. just for not having any is unfair.

I agree with you on the whole, though. I was saying so around the beginning of the thread - there’s a pervasive “sex as validation” undercurrent to human society, particularly teenage & young adult society; and it fucks many (most ?) people up in some way or another.
Not sure how to change that, especially now that I’m old and bald and teenagers automatically and rightfully tune out every word coming out of my fossil mouth.

Personally, I think both cases should be treated equally, but there are a variety of reasons why they might not be. Amongst other reasons, sometimes the media latches onto some stories and ignores others. That actually originally was the case with the girls.
Beyond that, I’m not sure why, I suspect it may be a side effect of girls historically being viewed as weak, vulnerable, fragile, and valuable property, the lives of women often are seen as more valuable and women are seen as something to be more protected than men.
That’s why we have things like “Women and Children first” on the Titanic, more funding for breast cancer than prostate cancer, and far more media coverage of female crime victims than male victims.
However, that hardly means the MRAs aren’t a bunch of butthurt douchebags.
