Cleaning leather--COVID

How to clean leather to remove COVID?

I have no special leather cleaners.

Is it on something you’re required to use? If it’s a chair or couch, can you just avoid it for a few days?
Otherwise, after trying in a hidden spot and letting it dry for a few hours to make sure there’s no damage, I’d probably either go over with some Clorox wipes or a very mild bleach solution and then wipe that up with water and dry it.
Even just some water with a little bit of soap followed by plain water and a good drying.

I’d probably just avoid it or throw a big blanket over it for a week. Years down the line you’ll still be kicking yourself if it has a bleached in leopard print or spots from the water.

I have one easy chair, in front of the TV.

Will Lysol, in the brown bottle, destroy my chair?

There is something for leather called Oil Soap, & I may have some. Vegetable oil.

Does that kill COVID?

Are you sharing this chair? Why does it need disinfecting?

Unless there’s a known yes or know to ‘does lysol ruin leather’, I don’t know that anyone here could tell you without knowing other things, like the quality of the leather, the dye used, how well the chair has been maintained etc.

If the soap is real soap, I would guess it does, but again, I doubt anyone can give you a good answer.

I’ll still suggest, if you must use the chair, put a big blanket over it for a few days.

My understanding is the virus can only be alive for a limited time. If someone sits in it and you suspect they were infected just stay away from the chair for awhile.
Any solvent, bleach or ammonia cleaner is gonna leave marks.
If someone is in your house that you feel has active virus on them ask them to leave or stand outside your door 6ft away.
I’m not letting anyone in my house that I am not entirely sure of. I’m certainly not gonna ask them to sit in my leather chair. Just sayin’
