If I clean up my cookies, does that mean I’ll have to login again at all my sites? What about plugins and active x, how do i know I don’t use these? Thanks.
As far cleaning out your cookies, it depends on the site you are visiting. Some sites will place login information in there, though any site that does “business” (Amazon, ThinkGeek, etc) will normally have you verify that login info in order to place an order. Another thing that you would lose would be preferences (if you have any set) and maybe even info about your previous visits. Some privacy/conspiracy folk think its a bad thing that someone like Amazon will track the pages you visit and other things. I like it, cuz it means that when I go to the site its tailored for me.
As for ActiveX and other plugins, you won’t know you use them until you delete them and then try to load a page that contains data that needs them. Then you can go through the whole download and install cycle. One word of caution: even if you know where a plugin is located on the harddrive don’t just delete it . Use the Install/Remove Programs utility in Windows.
Hope that helps…
