Clearing my stuff – an MMP give-away, sorta

Hey y’all! I’m home and all comfy. ACBG has stuff to deal with tonight so no spend the night night tonight. Perhaps tomorrow. Today was actually a pretty good day. I actually was at two pretty productive meetings and had a good lunch. So good, that I don’t want any supper. It takes a lot of lunch for that to happen!

It’s rainy but not stormy which is nice. I’ve been on my back porch, sippin’ a beer and watching this nice steady rain. So peaceful. I even turned off my sprinkler system so it won’t come on tomorrow morning. I figure what with the fact that it’s supposed to rain most of this evening, I didn’t need the sprinkler too. Kinda like gilding the lily, as it were. This is doing wonders for the grass seed I planted last Friday. The frawgs that live in my bushes are lovin’ it too. They’re out there just a’ croakin’ away. Croakin’ as in making frawg sounds not like shuffling off this mortal coil. That would be sad. This is happy croakin’.

Bobbio I hear ya about places like Red Robbin, though I’ve never actually been to a Red Robbin cause there ain’t none around these parts. However, we have our equivalents, I guess. One such place we have named the “Hawg Trough”. It’s a big buffet thing where a good 75% of what’s on the buffet is fried. ACBG and I have gotten to where we just don’t enjoy it anymore. Last time we ate there we felt like we wasted twelve bucks. No technicolor yawns ensued though. You need to go pants shoppin’. It has been decreed.

I have thick wavy hair. Thus, I keep it buzzed one-half inch all over. Matter of fact, it’s time for a shearin’ now. I think my friend who cuts my hair is bringing his clippers over this weekend so he can cut my hair poolside. He does that a lot when it’s pool time. Weird, us? Whatever makes you think so?

Here’s the bridge I cross twice a day - it used to bother me just a bit, but now it’s just another part of my commute. Although when oncoming traffic strays across the line, my pucker factor goes way up! It’s one lane in each direction, no shoulder, and a concrete barrier between the road and the river. But in the dark when lightning is flashing, it’s mega-cool!

I just had a minor panic attack. Thanks, FCM. Did I tell you about panicking having to go up a 3-floor almost unsupported escalator last week? I clutched Mr. Lissar’s hand hard. I get bad vertigo.

Home, and happy. Mr. Lissar and I are going to watch Batman Begins tonight, with (I think) pulled pork sammiches and maybe some popcorn. And veggies, if I can think of any. My upstairs neighbours, for whom I bake, have also given us a homemade chocolate torte. I will disgrace myself with it later tonight.

I’m quite serious. There’s huge signs next to the pulloff. You might have to wait a little while, but it’s better than having someone have a panic attack in the middle of the bridge and add to the backup, which on summer weekends can stretch for 15 miles or more. I remember seeing a news story on it a few years ago, and apparently they drive someone across the bridge several times a day. Definitely a great idea.

I love your bridge, FCM! Definitely my kinda bridge, old and narrow.

Well, I’m not going to say much about him, because I’m a little superstitious and I don’t want to jinx it. Suffice it for now to say that he’s dreadfully cute, younger than I am ( ), and loads of fun to talk to. I can’t wait till there’s a little less talk and a lot more kissing, though.

Spats, he better not mess up my life. I’ve finally got on some sort of track. Never mind if it’s the right one.

I forgot to tell my story. Of all things!

Whilst I was in Valdosta and between meetings, the boss and I (we were in separate cars cause she was going elsewheres later on) decided to head on over to our soon to be office there and check things out. So, I’m following her and I have a cd playing away. I was listening to this song and bogeyin’ away cause I really like the song. When we get to the office my boss asked me what kind of fit I was pitching in my vehicle on the way over. See, I was singin’ along at the top of my voice (she couldn’t hear that thank Og!), shakin’ my head back and forth and drummin’ on the steering wheel while the song played. :o Good thing she’s use to me and loves me for what I am. So, I played the song for her. Now I gotta make her a copy of that cd. It’s a mix cd called “Drag Songs” a friend made for me. Actually it’s volume two of “Drag Songs.”
Guess I should be glad I didn’t have to admit to singing along to “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.”

That answered one of my questions (the shirt color one). I’ve actually Googled clerical collars now, and haven’t found anything on the difference between ones where all the collar shows and ones where just the snippet in front shows. I actually knew that there were orders in the Episcopal Church because my brother married into an extremely Episcopal family. Somewhere along the line, I learned this. My use of the word “actually” is actually unrelated to the Episcopal Church, however.

I am deeply disappointed that you have no desire to be a delegate. You could have met me! And it seems like it’s very well organized. Not too many lost-looking people. But, yes, Episcopalians all over downtown today. The agenda sounds awfully stressful, though. Seems like it’ll be difficult for conservative and progressive factions to come to agreement.

I am not shocked at your singing-along-ness, by the way.

Hi Dotster! Glad to see you, even if you just stopped by to say hi.

Aha…so there’s been kissing, Tel?

Pretty bridges. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a bridge that’s bothered me. Longest one I’ve been on is the Mackinac Bridge. I wasn’t old enough to drive the last time I crossed it though.

I’m still going    about the Celtic remark. He’s prolly related to the co-worker who asked me (long time ago) whether I was Japanese.

Glad the classmate apologized, FCM . That at least gives you hope that she’ll be OK in future classes. Sounds like it was an OK person having a bad day…

I don’t mind elevators. The 'vators in the building where I work are getting older (the building is about 16 years old = we started moving in 16 years ago this August  ) so sometimes the buttons don’t light on one of the panels. I guess they get stuck more often than they used to, but it’s usually cleared up quickly. We have 24-hour security, so there’s always someone there to call if there’s a problem. This is reminding me of a story that Baker told at Rue’s picnic. She was once stuck for quite a while. With no one to call. ::shudder::

Where is Rue, by the way? Oh, and hi scout! (Just because.)

I used to work through lunch and skipped it too often. Then I had mono. And acquired friends who insisted that I take a lunch with them. Now I take a lunch pretty much every day (we get an hour), with or without friends. Actually get a lot more done that way. (There’s that word again!)

I am right there with the “mornings come too early” contingent. Glad they’ve been moved. (Can you tell my boss, please?)

Well, I should be out mowing, even though I don’t feel like it. Think I’ll have a little coffee and then explore the garden. I have lots of daylilies starting to bloom (the common roadside ones, which I really like…).

We’ll see what I get done yet.

Back later.

There hasn’t been any kissing…yet.

All of those bridge pictures are making me woozy. I am terrified of heights. If I am in a glass elevator, I face the doors.

You never can tell with him. He might be lurking, or just wandering around the Internets aimlessly.

Guess what! I got peed on today! First appointment and a mean-assed little dog peed on me. Not just my pants. Not just my shirt. Everything! (Luckily I always bring an extra set of scrubs to work with me. I’m smart that way.)

After that the day went downhill. It was way fun. (But I didn’t get bitten. So there’s that.)

Ah…there you are. Hi, Rue!

Bad dog! But at least you were prepared. (Is that thanks to Boy Scouts or Batman?)

I have decided to be a lazy vegetable this evening. So Ima go read for a while… Took some flower pix, but I’m too lazy to computerize them tonight.

Did I mention I had a long day at work? It felt that way, at least. No pee on me, but just a bit too much of everything. Didn’t have meetings even; just unscheduled distractions. Maybe I’ll get something done tomorrow.

Oof. Movie was pretty decent, although anything with an ‘ancient brotherhood of ninjas’ gets snickers from me. My head hurts, though. Tension headache. The flourless chocolate torte is damn fine, though, and makes up for headaches.

Mr. Lissar is off to bed, and I will tidy a bit or something before bed. Well, maybe not. I always feel resentful about doing housework after ten thirty if I got up before eight. I’m fussy that way.

Mr. Lissar just did an appalling number of crunches and pushups. Why did I have to marry someone so healthy?

Hello, all!

Home from work and am a tired nurse, But, I got out of a ticket today! No, I wasn’t speeding. I was driving in the breakdown lane so I could turn right. See, where my exit is, is a place where another highway also exits and the street changes from highway to 3 lane road–and intersection, all in about 500 ft or so. So, to avoid the folks who are coming off the merging exit (my exit turns into the road w/o a merge), I -and everyone else, I might add–drive in the breakdown lane.

Well, today at the spot where the breakdown lanes ends was a state trooper. drat. Busted and I know it. OK.

I drive right up to his car and I roll down my window. He asks me (smiling) if I didn’t see his lights and realize that the reason I had the bd lane to myself was because everyone else was avoiding him? Oh, and he called me doctor–me in scrubs and white coat and all. I corrected him and saw what I have seen 3 times before–a change of expression and a softening of demeanour.

He asked what unit I worked in and I told him. He said, “talk to me for a lil bit, so these folks will think I’m giving you a ticket”. So I did!

Now, fast foward to work, about 2 hours into my shift. One of my coworkers refers to his lucky break this morning with one of IL’s finest. I ask him about it–he was caught by the same cop and also not ticketed!
What a hoot.
Off to [del]drool over[/del] watch John Stewart and sleep…

Oh, and I love bridges–the ones to get to Cape Cod are so high and cool. Drae -I’ll drive for ya!

I love bridges, too. I love heights and I love roller coasters. Everyone asks me, “Don’t you get vertigo?” And I say no but the truth is that I do get it but I like that feeling. I know I’m weird. I’m also not too afraid of water since I can swim pretty well.

::pushes mika into the pool::

I saw Batman Begins this weekend, while the Kid and Wife were having girls night upstairs, I watched what I thought was going to be a trashy action movie. Eh, it was but an enjoyable trashy action movie… Anything with cool toys like that guy has is ok by me. I want his car.

My legs feel like rubber. I got back from work, putzed here a bit and went for a 2 hour long ride, through town, along the river, back into downtown, UPHILL about a mile out to my part of town (subdivisions built over cornfields), and back home. That’s my longest ride this year, If the weather holds this weekend, I’ll hit the river path and try to get a 20 mile day in.

But now…it’s bedtime. Night all!

Stupid coding…

I think NOT!

: drags **MBG **into the pool with her :

Hey, don’t *start *somethin’, won’t *be *nothin’.

Howdy all! I watched the hockey game last night. I am a happy Caniac. dog and cat were staring at me rant and scream at the furniture(tv). I was busy this morning before work. I took out trash and recycling, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, and Roombaed. Mr. Roomba is pretty neat, but gets a little OCD sometimes. I mean do you really have to spend an hour vacuuming the kitchen?
I don’t fear bridges,Drae but I feel that way about tall buildings. I have a horrible fear I might throw myself off.
rigs what kind of nurse are you? My mother is a pediatric nurse. I never was able to fake illness. [mom] You do not have the plague. Get dressed and go to school![/mom]
Rue, they do say it’s better to be pissed off than pissed on.

Well, okay. If he does, you just let us know and we’ll send in the goon squad.

Will do. Don’t rearrange his face, though. I kind of like it how it is.
