There’s a problem with some hobbies, isn’t there? You have to figure out what to do with your artsy-craftsy stuff. When I did a lot of knitting and crocheting, I always found people who were glad to have an afghan. Slippers, too, sometimes. But if I made hot pot pads like my husband’s grandmother used to, I’d run out of takers pretty fast.
I can see cooks eventually running into that problem, too, or flower arrangers, or macramé-ists, or cross-stitchers. So unless you like to do for yourself, you soon have a lot of stuff accumulated. Which is what’s happened to me. Not that I’ll let it stop me – I’ll keep making things, trying things. And I’ll keep doing craft shows. And I’ll probably keep giving away things. Because I’m nice, dammit.
As I’ve done more and taken more classes, I find some of my earliest pieces quaintly primitive. OK, some of them were really bad… But that’s why one takes classes and practices, right? And just because they’re not particularly pretty, they can still do, um, stuff. My very first piece, a squatty, lumpy pot, lives on my desk at work, holding my paper clips. There are several pots around my house holding pennies or just sitting there looking good. I also have a few flower pots in use. And there are some other useful things I intend to make eventually.
I mentioned this before. I need to thin out my inventory. I offer all the items on this page to anyone who is willing to pay the postage. In the past, most pieces cost $5-$6 to mail, but bigger ones or multiples will cost more – duh!
Just email me at my username at hotmail and tell me which one(s) you want. If you have specific questions on a piece or want more detailed photos, just ask in the email, and I’ll do what I can to respond.
And even if you don’t want anything, at least commiserate with me about things you’ve made and can’t seem to give away.
