In the US, women are eligible for screening mammograms starting at age 40 (this is not an absolute age; if you have a mother or sister with breast cancer, you may be able to start them sooner). Most insurance covers it, but if you can’t afford it, there are organizations that help pay for them. Call the facility for more information.
BTW, they’re supposed to hurt. However, the machines and film are much more sensitive than they were in the past, so the chances of catching a tumor early are greater, and the earlier a tumor is caught, the easier it is to cure.
