The Onion just launched Clickhole which is an outright parody site of the likes of Upworthy and Buzzfeed. It’s pretty great, the same sensationalistic clickbaiting titles, but just to screw with you.
Some of it is still pretty much just Onion articles,I"m not saying I hope my child is transgender, but I would hit it out of the park – lampooning all the self-congratulatory emotionally manipulative stories bragging of the awesome way some parent handled their kid’s sexuality/gender/autism/whatever. Still would pretty much fit on The Onion. Also What this little girl says will melt your heart, which was a bit too obvious for me to call it good, but establishes a pretty clear image for the site.
One of my favorites was 5 iconic movie scenes that were actually fake which points out that they were all fake because… they took place in movies and movies are fake.
I’m not sure how much life the site has in it, it’s pretty much got one joke: “Upworthy and Buzzfeed are hyperbolic clickbait”, but for one or two casual visits it’s a pretty good takedown.
