ok, let me explain. I’m talking about when you click on a link in internet explorer, can be on any website really. now, sometimes you click on it but the spinny picture in the top right of explorer doesnt start spinning, so you have to click on it again. It’s always bugged me this, for years. Anyone else notice it? Why does it happen, I cant work it out. Surely if you click it should work!
I’ve noticed this hapenning:
I click but nothing happens and a border is left around what I was clicking on.
What happenned was, I presssed down on the mouse over the link, but moved the mouse off the link before releasing the mouse button. (You can do this on purpose and see how it doesn’t do anything)
I’m not sure this is what you are experiencing, but the symptoms are the same.
Yes flightless I think that might be it. Damned annoying though, they sould make it so it just clicks it anyway.
That would be practical if hypertext didn’t also carry information. It’s not uncommon for someone to need to cut and paste a portion of linked text, or to click-and-drag an actual link into another document.
For example, if I want to bring the link to the GQ forum from the top of the page into the field that I’m working with right now, I could click and drag it with this result:
http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=3
If my browser assumed that, since I’d clicked on the link, I wanted to go there, and started loading the GQ forum page, I would be annoyed.
I got so annoyed with this that I haven’t clicked a link in forever. I use the right button context menu, and select either Open or Open In New Window.
