This is one of the funniest things I have ever read here! Seriously! It was so unexpected, and such an absurd mental image, that I laughed till there were tears in my eyes.
Will you be here all week? If so, I’ll be buyin’ me some tickets.

I can’t really see the “look on her face” as described, the only thing I notice is a sigh when he starts talking. Were they in the same building? Did she know he had started his speech?
This is wrong on so many levels… I like it! ![]()
Other than the fact that they were in different states; him in Texas and her in Ohio, I can’t really answer any of your questions with certainty, Santo. What I understand is that her team tried to make it look like a calculated move on Obama’s part to start his speech over hers in order to deflect attention away from her and onto him. However, it’s been brought to light that her speech was supposed to have started at 8:30, and (as usual), she was running late and didn’t actually start until 8:45 or so. He started when he was supposed to start, but since she wasn’t done yet, oh well. Could he have waited? I guess. Should he have? Maybe, but I’m not sure I would have.
Oh, I hope to hear some questions about Kosovo, Pakistan, etc tonight.
Agreed. And given that she’s taken to trying to never congratulate him on a win… it hardly leaves her any room at all to cry foul.
y’know?
Totally agreeing with that. I’d love to see real and substantive questions and get to see how they handle events that are very relevant and real-time. That would be VERY telling to me.
He knew what he was doing. He started exactly when he was supposed to, further indicating that for this entire campaign he has been on time, organized, together, calculating and she has been one, two three steps behind and tripping over the heels of the campaign management staff as they leave the campaign.
I just hope he stays razor sharp all night.
From the opening comments, I think Hillary did listen to the (smarter, I think) strategy to be warmer tonight instead of tougher.
Barack sounds like he’s got a bit of a cold.
Obama’s trying really to be substantive and specific. His strategy is to show that any allegations made later that he’s all talk will sound especially shrill. He’s also trying to include Hillary in his talk, being gentlemanly and inclusive, reaching out to her supporters to show HE is not part of the Hillary Hate Machine. Hillary is striving to be anecdotal, to emphasize her experience.
Is the debate going to be available on broadcast tv at all? We have no cable and the 'net connection here can be a bit spotty.
Our play by play isn’t enough?
I agree - I’m actually relieved they are keeping it warm. Thus the hip to hip I mentioned earlier. It’s going to be a lot tougher to shout profanities and choke each other from being 6 inches away.
I’ve got a mental image of Obama goosing HRC when she is talking
Sick.
He does - it was in evidence when he visited Dallas yesterday.
The cost of the civility is that this will be boring.
Obama got one dig in about special interests, but the moderator didn’t let Hillary respond.
I hope they have more about the war on science! Even Obama jumped in to compliment Clinton on that comment.
I know her voice was hoarse a month ago on the campaign trail, but is what I’m hearing tonight really how she sounds?
She sounds pretty normal to me.
You mean cacklly?
Yeah.
Then yes, that’s what she sounds like normally.
