You may be right. How much snow are you getting out there?
Just out of curiosity, what was he indicted for, exactly?
Who, Clinton? That was such a long time ago - and I’m only talking about this thread!
Perjury and obstruction of justice. Here’s a link to CNN.
I hasten to add that I am referring (as I assume Bryan is) to the impeachment.
Yes, impeachment, the correct word occured to me too late.
There are 6 new inches in GJ (figure about 24 hours before it’s a bog), and we’ve heard ~8-17" of fresh stuff in the Collbran area. We might get back out there this week.
So we’re stranded. I’m still thankful. D’ya hear we’re at 92% average snowfall? And as a bonus, Powderhorn’s opening day is rapidly approaching.
Oh yeah, back on topic. What did President Clinton ever do to get us out of this drought? Now look where we are! <slack-jawed yokel grin>
The worst of the drought was in 2001-2. Just who was President then? Well?
[/knee-jerk]
Yeah, we need all the snow we can get. 200% of average would not be too much. Only about four inches here, as it appears out my window. Still, I’ll need an early start to work. It never ceases to amaze me - the people who forget how to drive in snow over the summer.

Not really, since he is misconstruing the spanking lissener got and applying it mistakenl in this case. Liss wasn’t getting spanked for messing with a poster’s name, he was getting spanked for deliberately and with clear intent using Lib’s former screen name so as to, it appears, make sure everyone knew that the two Libs were one and the same, and also because he seemed to feel (and I am not weighing in on the validity of this either way) that Lib was, in changing his name, deliberately trying to escape his own past, and perhaps some past that he experienced with liss particularly, it appears.
That’s a different thing than messing with someone’s name to dis them. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen any prohibitions against that, since it is simply one more way to be rude and disrespectful. After all, what is the big distinction between calling someone “milwhatsyerface” and “asswipe”? Here in the pit, why would one be prohibited when the other is not? Are we to believe that one could address another poster as, say, “Shitforbrains” but not, for instance, “Libshitforbrains”? That would be a very curious distinction, don’t you think?
Hmm, seems we have an insect buzzing about the room. Anyone have a flyswatter?
Here’s what you’re looking for. In the future, please try to keep up?
Honestly, for someone with a name so perilously close to “roid”, I’d think you’d like this rule. Silly me.

A little help please.
I must have missed them.
But can you show me the many times milwhatever has objected to it?
:wally
Personally, I ain’t keepin’ tally of your milroyj baggage.
As my post says, I was answering this:
:unambiguous “you’re-a-tool” smilie:
The nicknaming shit is just silly, though. I mean this sincerely, Reeder.
I wasn’t looking for anything. Lib posted a link to a post he was offering as proof of his assertion. I followed it, read it, and saw it quite differently than he seemed to be seeing it, and offered my reasoning. I thought that was pretty obvious.
Silly you indeed, especially since I don’t like or dislike it, since I still don’t see that it IS a rule, see Reeder’s post.
However, I can certainly see how someone might construe it as exactly that. I leave it to a mod to clarify the matter one way or another.
To clarify the questions:
In the pit, may one poster mangle another poster’s name in order to insult them?
If no, is there a clear reason why mangling a name is not permitted, while outright insults are?
If yes, are there limitations on the practice? Is it ok as long as no objection is lodged? Must one object several times?
Since this business appears to have been addressed on the fly, by two different mods, and not in the official rules (that I’m aware of), it seems some final rulings may be called for.
Or not.
I don’t actually care, but I’m sure someone does. After all, I’ve been addressed as “cunt” in these forums, so if someone wants to indulge their inner 8 year old by calling me 'roid, they are free to do so. I believe it reflects far more on them than it does on me.
And to me, that reflection is the essence of “jerk”. So I guess you and I are in agreement with the prime directive here.
Word to your mother, Stoid.
Even if your jejune and Neanderthal microanalysis of the mods’ rulings weren’t grossly misguided and self-serving, it’s still a stupid thing to do. You’re like the naive little brat who has just learned a racial slur, and yells it out repeatedly just because it pisses people off. I mean, it isn’t even clever. The least you could do is make a pun out of it, but you settle for utter mediocrity. If your defense of this silliness were a chess game, you’d be playing the Black side of a disasterous Danish Gambit.
The main reason given when this was discussed before was clarity. Keep in mind that this is not a closed society. New people come in all the time. They don’t necessarily know the inside jokes or the five-year history. When someone says, “Roid is being a jackass”, it’s like those reality TV message boards where all the participants are given pet names, and to figure out who’s talking about whom, you have to go digging up old posts and try to put the pieces together.
That was debunked in the original thread. All past posts have the new name “Liberal” attached to them. I’ve already covered to a fare-thee-well why I changed it.
Really? I haven’t looked lately, but I noticed that my Stoidela posts were still Stoidela after I changed it. But maybe that was a long time ago and something changed.
