An interesting question, of course, if whether Trump can duplicate his 2016 capture of the nomination. I honestly think HRC will do her part for 4 years, then ask for a relief pitcher, even if things go very well for her in office. Then who? Warren? Booker? M. Obama?
Chelsea!
I really doubt Trump could recapture the GOP nomination in four years, given how many bridges he’s burning this time and how badly it looks like he’s going to lose. Nobody’s had a second go-round as a party’s nominee after having already lost once in the general election since Nixon did it in '68, IIRC, and Nixon didn’t have nearly Trump’s baggage.
And 'waaaay too soon to say, but there’s no reason to think Hillary wouldn’t run for reelection in 2020. If she didn’t, though, Tim Kaine would be well-positioned to run.
There was a firebombing of a Republican office in North Carolina today, and somebody wrote graffiti on the ruins, “Nazi Republicans leave town or else". Trump immediately claimed Hillary was responsible, and the deplorables are out claiming that she ordered the attack. No explanation from them as to what she would have gained from it. Democrats immediately raised over $13,000 to rebuild the office.
So the battle to take ISIS capital mosul has begun.
Count down until Trump starts claiming that the timing of this is an effort by Obama to “rig the election” ? Of course taking Mosul won’t put an end to ISIS but it will be a major blow to ISIS including majorly damaging their credibility and ability to recruit and also make it harder for the right to maintain the “Obama is being totally ineffective against ISIS bullshit.” Probably won’t move the needle much as it seems Trump is already at rock bottom.
Extremely disreputable pro-Clinton website run by someone who plays at being a journalist when the people at DemocraticUnderground.com call him out for being a complete yahoo; in short, it’s clickbait for the Facebook crowd, and intelligent leftists don’t take it seriously.
Meltdown! Trump has made 16 twitter posts in the last 24 hours including two directly attacking Paul Ryan again. Triggered ! Maybe he needs a safe space ?
And today 538 has Arizona the palest of blue, with 52.3% for Hillary on the Nowcast.
Da’esh’s de facto capital is Ar Raqqah in Syria. Mosul is just the largest city population-wise by far that Da’esh occupies. But as of the last debate, Trump thinks it is ridiculous that any offensives are announced and thinks, relying on his military experience and genius, that we should be conducting these operations through surprise attacks. Nevermind that a large scale offensive involves tens of thousands of troops openly maneuvering into position and shaping operations to surround and isolate the area around the city before any actual attack into the city begins, so that Da’esh reinforcements aren’t able to enter at will and the fighters in Mosul aren’t able to escape. Both of these take days/weeks, particularly given the logistics and organizational struggles of the Government of Iraq. Surprise outside of the tactical level is not possible for Iraqi/Coalition forces.
The Iraqi government also has to worry about its own civilians in the city. They are dropping flyers telling civilians to stay away from the fighting zones.
Sound like excellent advise, especially if they offer some information about just where the other zones are located.
Germany?
Holy crap, really?
Well I know you being facetious but the serious answer. They point out an explicit safe corridor that they suggest you exit the city by. Then they have plenty of troops at that corridor to keep watch and make sure that armed forces are not leaving via that corridor.
Of course Daesh fighters can just discard all their weapons and blend into the civilians, but it seems there is considerable resentment against Daesh from the general population so there’s a real chance they’d get pointed out by civilians to the Iraqi forces as they tried to leave (or possibly beaten to death by civilians once they discard their weapons).
This is another reason why Trump’s “we shouldn’t be giving them warning is imbecilic”, there are 100s of thousands of civilians in Mosul who are also victims of Daesh. Bombing the city or starting mass artillery attacks without warning the civilians to get out and providing a safe corridor is reprehensible and possibly a war crime.
If they discard their weapons and blend in with the civilians, they effectively are civilians, for all practical purposes. How many of ISIS’ “fighters” are conscripts? Would anyone be surprised if volunteering to fight might ensure that one’s family was safe from suspicion?
Talk about butt hurt.

Nope, not under the geneva convention they are not. Fighters who discard their weapons can still be detained as POW’s if they are identified while civilians cannot be detained as POWs. Daesh / ISIS has claimed itself to be a nation, so to some degree the geneva conventions should apply. (yes I’m a idealist but it’s still an important distinction). From what I’ve read most ISIS fighters are volunteers not conscripts, they either signed up for the monthly paycheck and looting opportunities or genuinely believe in ISIS mission to create a new Caliphate.
Does Ashley Todd have an alibi?
Has anyone mentioned Mr. Gilberthorpe, the British teen pimp who vouches for Trump?
Apparently, he makes his money by offering himself up as paid witness in slimy spurious cases that he hopes won’t go to trial.
Guys like that are hyenas. Inspired by revenge, and a hunger for money, fame, and a desire to wreak havoc. (Apologies to real hyena’s, which, are, by all accounts brave predators with an undeservedly bad reputation).
But it seems like Trumps rape trial by the alledged teen-at-the-time “Katie Johnson” is set up by a similar hyena.
