This is why prominent Republicans like Ryan are acting so scared – they’re worried if they turn away from Trump too hard, the hard-core Trumpers will actually vote against them. You can see this on places like the subreddit r/The_Donald – I’ve seen headlines like “Punish the TRAITORS and BACKSTABBERS at the ballot box”, urging Trump supporters to vote for Trump but no other Republican unless they are still actively supporting and campaigning for Trump.
Maybe we should provide a free “I’m deplorable” t-shirt (or forehead tattoo) to everyone who votes for Trump.

Well yes, but Trump is encouraging them, he’s hinted at his rallies that they shouldn’t vote for any GOP that have dis-endorsed him. I think he honestly doesn’t care if the resulting split destroys the GOP, because he’s convinced he’d remain standing as the leader of a new Trump party that would be competitive. Of course he’s deluded, but we’ve always known that.
Here’s the Times article on that arrest. Of course, this can be read either as “see, there ARE terrorists among the refugees,” OR as “see, the refugees themselves are on our side (nearly all of them), and are taking risks to help fight terrorism.”
So, kind of a wash, politically speaking.
To be fair that is at least an internally consistent opinion. Boys will grope women they find attractive any chance they are alone with them, if a man transitions to a woman they are still a man just a crazy one, if a crazy man grapes a woman it’s non good if a sane man grapes a women it’s just normal. Their objections isn’t to a man groping a woman just the crazy or transsexual.

I have to agree. Sputnik news end up on Reddit sometimes, so it’s not it’s a super-secret site that no one has ever heard of. There is a perfectly reasonable explanation in that. Accusations such as this should not be made without more evidence than this. If for no other reason that they start getting ignored and won’t be paid attention to when there is something real. Many will say the same about Clinton - so many crazy, false, overhyped accusations than any real disturbing behavior is lost in the shuffle or ignored without examination because it’s just assumed to be more muck-racking.

I fear you will be proved a prophet. No matter how overwhelming Clinton’s victory on election night, Trump will refuse to concede. Clinton will claim victory anyway. There will be pandemonium in at least a dozen states, as the lunatic fringe goes apeshit while the sane majority looks on helplessly. Maybe Trump will actually file lawsuits challenging the results. It will make the 2000 Florida recount look like a student council meeting.

I’m hoping this means that the he will encourage his supporters to vote only for Trump at the top of the ballot and leave the rest of their ballot blank. Maybe enough people will do that to give the House to the Democrats :D.

Trump refusing to concede is an irrelevance. “Conceding” is a gentlemanly thing to do, but it’s not, technically a thing in the electoral process. If Clinton wins, as is the overwhelming likelihood, the electors go through the motions and then she’s inaugurated. He can say he didn’t lose all he wants. I can also say I’m the Pope. Both positions are equally pointless. The election of the President is beyond the powers of Clinton or Trump to affect beyond their campaign efforts.
Well, those are two separate scenarios and neihter is likely.
SCENARIO 1. (Pandemonium) Most voters are very low energy. We are, after all, talking about an election in which the number of people who don’t vote is greater than the number of votes any candidate actually gets. Of those who do vote, only a small percentage are motivated to do anything other than go vote. If they don’t like the result they’ll bitch about it but will not actually DO anything. On Wednesday they’ll get up and go to work and clean the kitchen and watch TV and all that stuff, because most people are not sufficiently involved in politics to change their routines.
Don’t believe me? It is a demonstrable fact that a shocking percentage of Republicans - millions of people - believe that Barack Obama is
- Muslim,
- A terrorist,
- Not American,
- Gay,
- Nominally married to a man masquerading as a woman, or
- Some or all of 1 through 5.
Obama was elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and yet these millions of people, to a number statistically approaching 100% did - nothing. They complain on the Internet. They believe, at least in the way people believe political things, that the President is actually a foreign terrorist, and they are doing nothing about it. No chaos, no mayhem. Why would Trump losing to Clinton cause more mayhem? At least no one thinks Clinton’s not American.
SCENARIO 2: (Lawsuits) Who gives a shit?
Trump can file lawsuits from now until hell freezes over. Unless the results are actually close and could change the overall result, as was the case in 2000, it doesn’t matter. If the election were held today Trump would lose by a margin exceeding any three swing states combined. If he wants to file a lawsuit contesting a result, what of it? He’ll waste money on lawyers. Clinton will be inaugurated on January 20 and Donnie can spend all the time he wants in court.
In any event, it’s very unlikely. As much as Trump hates being a loser, he has experience failing. He’s had businesses collapse before; what he does, the reason he’s rich, is find a way to spin out of it and come up with something else. What he WON’T do is spend money on a pointless court case. He’ll probably move into becoming an alt-right media darling.
