Close encounter with a cheetah(Video)

4 minute video of a 45 minute encounter with a wild cheetah.

Very calm cat, notice the traffic jam in the background.

Cool encounter and video. Cheetahs aren’t generally aggressive towards people. They have been kept as pets for thousands of years across many different cultures. We would probably have them in houses and apartments all over the U.S. if they weren’t so difficult to breed in captivity (cultures that keep them as pets have to take them from the wild when they are young).

Cool, it’s using the vehicles to look for dinner or enemies. Going on a safari is on my bucket list, but the more videos I see of them they tend to be all traffic jams like this one. Too bad.

Not at all. Stay away from state-owned parks and book yourself with a privately owned company like Wilderness Safaris. They’re able to take you off-road, instead of driving around in a big circle on pavement. There are great camps in Botswana and Tanzania where you can end up all by yourself with your driver and all the wildlife you can handle. The most we ever had in a vehicle was four.

From the people’s reactions at the end, the cat must have had quite an air about it.

I think they were worried that they might get sprayed with urine; the cheetah was stood for quite a while with its ass end aimed directly at them.

would it have been such a bad idea to try to tickle its chin? i don’t know if i could resist sitting there for 45mins not doing anything, with it just within an arm’s reach away. /Darwin

I thought about this as well, having been almost sprinkled by a tiger. It missed me with less than an inch and I could feel some droplets in my face.

Coolest. Thing. Ever.

Sure would have been fun to be that guy closest to it.
