[Closed] or [Game Over]? What do you prefer?

Since I’ve become a moderator in the Game Room, I’ve been marking completed threads as [Game Over]. I notice, however, that the private messages people send me usually ask me to mark it as “Closed,” which is what FluidDruid does.

To me, the word “Closed” implies that you can’t post in the thread anymore, which isn’t true when we finish a Feud – talking about it afterward is half the fun.

Do people have a preference? Do you care one way or the other? FluidDruid and I talked about it, and it’s really not a biggie to either of us.

So what do you think? [Closed] or [Game Over]?

Or should I just mark them [Damn! Lost Again] instead?

As an SDMB veteran I have always understood ‘closed’ to mean ‘no more posting in this thread’.

Until recently I’ve avoided the Game Room (Much like I avoid COCC and others) so I am a relative newbie to the GR rules.

When I see [closed] I think, well, closed thread. My vote’s for [game over]

What about [Game Closed]?

I like “game over” - even though I request it to say “closed.” I’ll change my requests from now on.

And thanks so much for doing this for us! I know I must be a big pain in the butt, with a new game, sometimes two, every day!

Oh, btw, your Birds Feud is the next one after this Star Wars one.

I think it should be a different term than closed, which already has an established meaning. Game over works.

Game over, for the reasons already stated.

I like [Damn! Lost Again], since that fits my regular standings

But [Game Over] works fine as well.

How about [GAME LIMIT REACHED]? You can still play to see how you do, but you know that it won’t be counted in the ‘official’ score.

Another vote for [Game Over]. If you could also add that “woo-woo-woo-woo- WOK-WOK” sound from Pac-Man, that would be so cool.

I like “Game Over”, but it does immediately make me think of Aliens.

Hudson: That’s it man, **game over ** man, game over! What the f*ck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don’t we try that?

Which sadly leads to this …
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah!
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah!
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah!
O Lord, kum ba yah!

My brain is too twisted. Sigh

Another vote for “Game Over.”

“Closed” implies (to me anyway) no more posting; “Game Over” says that the game is ended but you can still post comments, thank-yous, etc.

What happens if you need to close this thread?

You just made my brain explode.

Game Over

Closed makes me think a mod has been around to kill the thread.

Game Over Man! Game Over!

Well, then, if the game makers/FluidDruid have a good reason to mark it “Closed” that overrides the potential confusion with thinking you’re not able to post in the thread anymore, we should hear it.

Game over–closed also makes me think of closed threads, even though I’m used to seeing “Closed” from the feud threads.

Drat! Every time I think of something clever, someone else has already thought of it! It’s like being on a board with thousand Steve Allens!

Game Over, BTW.

:dubious: Not to mention post #11 above.
