Closing a bank Account

I have had a long and pit-worthy ordeal with some fadulent rebillings on one of my bank accounts. The bank’s customer service is pretty worthless. What happens if I just close the account? Can anyone come after me for rebillings I never authorized, and have tried to cancel? Obviously there is still the issue of getting the original charges refunded, but would this at least end the flow of money from my account?

You are not my lawyer, this is not legal advice, etc…

Thanks

What do you mean by rebilling? Did you give a company authorization to pull money from your account to settle a bill? If that is the problem, you can simply inform both the bank and the company in writing that you are revoking that authorization. They should not be able to access your account after that, and if they do the bank is responsible. You should probably do this even if you do close the account.
