clothes dryer blues

So when I try to use the dryer it spins for about 10 seconds, makes the finished buzz sound and stops. After about four or five tries it works. I figure it is the dampness or some other sensor. I called the appliance repair place but when they came it was working fine. Now is is not working again. Any idea on where I can find out how to replace the dampness sensor (which I really think is the problem)?

Some appliance parts distributors have service manuals which will assist you in troubleshooting the unit. The manufacturer may also have similar information, so a visit to their website might help.

Be advised that some stores cater to tradespeople only, and don’t want to deal with Joe Consumer.

Good luck.

Does it have a cycle where it doesn’t use dampness? Time, perhaps?

Are you drying a normal load of wash, or are you drying a load that has a couple of big heavy things in it? If I am drying wet blankets, or a load with a couple of heavy jeans and some underwear, the automatic sensor doesn’t work too well; the load is under-dried. I’m assuming it has to to with how the clothes brush up against the sensor. In those situations I use timed dry.
