I’m looking forward to this. Ever since I saw the first trailer before ‘Transformers’, I’ve been hyped for it.
Maybe I’m a sucker, but I was drawn in by the hype and all the theories that have gone with it. Is it Voltron? Is it Godzilla? Cthulhu? Giant Dildo Monster? It doesn’t matter, I just want to watch it.
Of course, there’s no way in hell this movie is going to live up to the hype. Unless it was the aforementioned Giant Dildo Monster…then it would be a runaway blockbuster.
The previews all show a lot of sub-soap-opera-level acting and cheesiness, but maybe the monster stomps on all of them and is the true hero. Hard to say. I’m very mildly intrigued by the premise, but I can’t get excited about it. I’ll probably wait until it comes out and see what people say, then check it out on DVD later if the consensus is that it’s missable. Unless my husband REALLY wants to go, in which case I guess I’ll be seeing it.
Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung and that Iranian dude commandeer the laser-shooting 130’ Jesus statue from Rio de Janairo and defeats the Statue of Liberty in battle. He is eventually defeated by the combined forces of 1998 Godzilla, the son of King Kong and …let’s say Rodan
I suspect that the movie WILL be in handheld “Shakicam”. It looks as if it’s meant to be a Godzilla-like attack as seen by the Teeming Millions that you usually see running in terror from it, rather than by the military or the Top Scientist (an idea that was used to good effect in the Korean film The Host last year). What bugs me is that it looks as if it’s being printed in that “muddy” film style, rather than the sharply-defined clear focus blockbusters used to have until a couyple of years ago. Propbably they do this because it looks more “real”, but to me it just makes the film look grungy and old. I hated it in Munich and I hate it here.
Cat Fight, the pictures you saw have pretty much been confirmed to be fake. I’ve been looking up everything online and there’s basically one set of fake pics going around, the louse like ones.
I haven’t really heard much about it, but I’m pretty excited by the idea of it. I think the perspective of regular people during an unthinkable crisis is a compelling one. I don’t expect the movie to actually be good, but I think it can be entertaining and interesting.
And I think they may have already given away the identity of the monster. The very first preview I saw for this movie was titled:
Oh, the usual monster movie cliches. The gruff authority figure sends dozens of soldiers to their deaths, and finally buys it himself, after hindering the hero, the scientist, and the girl, who sprains her ankle. Then the plot limps along, with a dreary parade of desperation, ending in the death/retreat of the monster. If the writers are clever, they leave room for a sequel or two.
Same ol’, same ol’. Where’s Studebaker Hoch when you need him?
