Clyde Bruckman finally reposes... (Peter Boyle's death)

Nice link, BG.

Requiescat. :frowning:

urk

Just got in from seeing a friend’s band play in Los Angeles.

There was a great songwriter who I had never heard before who played just before my friend went on. As a closing number he performed “Puttin’ on the Ritz” as a tribute to Peter Boyle. The song wasn’t a regular part of his set, he just learned it earlier in the afternoon, after he had heard of Peter Boyle’s death.

Before playing the song, he announced that it was dedicated to Peter and he encouraged the crowd to sing along at the appropriate spot (though he did not tell us what song he was about to play). When he got to the end of the first verse, he stepped back from the mic, snapped his fingers twice in time, and the entire audience sang back in their best “Boyle as Frankenstein’s Monster” impersonation:

Poo’in onuh Riiiiiith!

The crowd never missed their cue throughout the rest of the song (although, I and only a few others remembered to sing “Super Duper!”). Everybody sang with such heart. It truly was a touching tribute.

Damn! The man couldn’t have been any cooler than if he cured cancer or something.

Odd that Yoko Ono should be in the news the same time that his death is reported. The universe works in very strange ways.

I’ll always remember him from Young Frankensteinl

Since there are so many fans, I’ll mention the role/movie I’ll always remember him from: Eagle in “Steelyard Blues”. If you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend it. Hilarious.

I also remember the “Dueling Brandos” skit with John Belushi on SNL.

And Lazlo from “Where the Buffalo Roam”

Sounds like a eulogy for Boyle.

Long live the Eagle

Duke of Rat, my thoughts exactly. Thanks for saving me the time of having to look up that quote.

RIP, big guy.

Damn!

I was just thinking about that Clyde Bruckman episode yesterday… I dont know why, but I basically played the whole thing out in my head.

A real shame. He will be missed.

Even if I did always get him and Jeffrey Tambour mixed up.
