CNN.com=evil [If you're watching Spain-Ireland now, don't go there!]

Huge World Cup spoilers, in case you couldn’t tell

I was so excited Spain-Ireland was going to be on ABC this afternoon. Finally, I don’t have to get up at an abominable hour to get my World Cup fix, or stay up till one. In fact, I missed the first 35 minutes of this game because I had stayed up last night to see the end of the Senegal-Sweden game [worth it, IMHO]. Anyway, I figured, hey, as long as I don’t go to sports sites I shouldn’t have the result spoiled. CNN.com is [was] my default site, and what do I see 3 spots down in top headlines?

Senegal, Spain advance

AAAAAAAAAAH! As it turns out the game was won on PKs. The first PKs of the Cup and I don’t get to feel their excitement because I already know the outcome. If this was, say, Denmark-England, which was only shown in the morning, I wouldn’t be making a big stink about it, but Spain-Ireland is being shown on a major network right now in America, on against syndicated crap and car racing, so there’s probably a fairly large viewership. CNN, a fairly popular site in America, is giving away the result tothat game. CNN, you fucked up big time. I’m making my default page the New York Times now.

Can’t win, can they?

First, the football-watching US public whines because the US media don’t cover football adequately . . .

Then they do.
