Recently I was reading a story on CNN.com and when I clicked on a link for the accompanying video file associated with the story I was informed that a $5.00 a month or $40.00 a year subscription is now required to see CNN.com videos. I don’t know about you but I use a many websites for my news, and if each of them started charging similar amounts for their “bonus” material I would be broke. I would be much happier to pay a small fee per video I download (say $0.25, that way if I watch 20 videos in a month they’ll still get their $5, but if I don’t I’m not paying for something I’m not using, and I could spread my money among several sites instead of limiting myself only to one).
