CNN coverage of Falcon9 was odd?

I watched the Falcon 9 launch on CNN this afternoon. As the countdown was proceeding, much of the image was covered by their news crawl, but the rocket was clearly off the pad and flying! It was like they were playing real time audio but running old video. Was something weird with my satellite connection to CNN? Did anyone else see this? It looked like a major technical glitch. What happened?

Hmm…you can see what the OP mentioned here: SpaceX and NASA launch Crew Dragon in Florida: Live updates (video at the top of the page)

Weird.

Yeah, I noticed that. The audio commentary was several seconds behind the video.

Here is the NASA live feed. I cannot link a live feed to a time stamp but if you go to -4:13:00 you’ll get to around 30 seconds before liftoff (see link below). CNN messed something up but they seem to have used that video.

Yes, the audio was about thirty seconds behind. I couldn’t figure out WTF was going on either. The rocket was clearly in the air while the audio was still counting down.

The CNN headquarters in Atlanta was overrun with protesters yesterday. Maybe that affected operations.

I watched CNN, too. I couldn’t understand it. It was like they skipped over the important parts (the takeoff, the landing of the booster).

I noticed that too.

I thought my eyes and ears were working in different timelines.

Well the whole thing was faked.

About to show second stage separation… screen goes blank and then 10 seconds later we see the second stage already gone.

About to show stage one landing on the drone… screen goes blank and the 10 seconds later there’s the first stage sitting there.

Yeah, weird. I hear they’ve even named the capsule Capricorn One.

No, never mind. It’s Endeavour: Crew Dragon Demo-2 - Wikipedia

Just watch the SpaceX feed. No issues at all: Crystal clear images of everything, on time, except for the actual landing of the booster onto OCISLY.

yes CNN screwed it up, they missed the launch.
