CNN milking Al Qaeda training videos

It is just me or are the Al Qaeda
videos so exclusive to the CNN not quite as terrifying as they make them out to be? Yes, I know Al Qaeda
are a bunch of hard core, badass mo–fos but that’s not a suprise. That they’d test poison gas on dogs doesn’t suprise me a bit as does their “urban environemt” training ground with fake buildings made of stone and canvas.

I have no doubt that a squad of AQs could do some serious damage on an unarmed urban population but it won’t keep me awake at night. Now prehaps I’m biased because I live in Arizona where any law abaiding adult can carry a gun but I don’t want to turn this into a gun control debate. Please start another thread if you want that but if the mods think this thread needs to move to GD I’ll respect that.

I haven’t either bothered to watch them, but I agree its becoming old hat.

CNN’s web poll about their tapes asked if you think Al-Qaeda is more of a threat now, after seeing the tapes. Over 60% said yes. Huh. So, I guess killing 2000 civilians was pretty bad, but gassing a cute little doggy just crosses the line.

It is not as bad as Fox News’ " America at War " theme. We have the dubious honour of being able to recieve this station here in the UK and it seems that FOX News has a one track mind . Most of it’s output seems to be concerned with terrorism and Iraq to the point of obssivness.

Does CNN plan to run a different scare article everyday based on each of the 65 tapes they payed for?

If so, I’m not going there for a few months.

By the way, I’m cracking up with their latest “Training for urban jihad” tape. What city did they replicate with tents and cardboard? Podunk USA population 50?

**“I don’t think anyone ever fathomed, even in the intelligence community, how sophisticated their training was, how well-prepared they were and how they were working away secretly in imparting this advice,” **

CARDBOARD & TENTS!

**“It is more advanced than training,” Gunaratna said. “It is almost like doing the operation so that when they go to the real operational theater, they will be a hundred percent confident.” **

Yes if the city consists of CARDBOARD & TENTS!

**“They are really training for specific missions,” Ranstorp said. “And it’s weeding out the elite of the elite, the crème de la crème, who may be deployed for even more specialized training, to even maybe be deployed [to] the West for terrorist purposes.” **

Stay away from campgrounds and box manufacturing facilities everyone.

You can have a good laugh reading about it here.

Stay away from campgrounds and box manufacturing facilities everyone.

Goddammit thats funny!!

May the mediocrity of several greeting-card salesman inhabit your soul like unmatched buttons in a empty mayonaise jar.

This website theorizes that the dog tape is fake, as the dog in the video looks too well-fed. Dunno about that, but the hysteria over the dog being gassed seems a little odd, considering the other things Al-Qaeda has already done.

Does this mean that the Humane Society is a terrorist organization?

Seeing CNN’s promotion of it, I can’t help thinking of the old National Lampoon cover “Support the War on Terrorism, or We Kill This Dog!”

I keep going to CNN.com, and I keep seeing that same damn headline story. All week now! Is nothing else happening in the world?

Well if they’re doing a tape a day, it could be a long time.

Ugh

Day 4, and CNN has the SAME headline. How long can this go on???

It looks like they’re trying to scare people into paying to watch the videos online. I haven’t seen any other news sites really even mention the tapes.

day 5… same headline. I sent them an e-mail complaining.

New headline! “24 new cases in Louisiana” regarding the West Nile Virus. CNN still sucks though.
