Coca-Cola + Candy = Fizz [changed title]

Is it my imagination or does coca-cola react in some way with the ingredients in a snickers bar or maltesers. It seems to foam up when you drink it straight after eating these snacks.
Please tell me I’m not going mad!!!

I beleive it is because the excess sugar in the snacks dissolves in the soda, then drives out the carbonic acid, causing extra fizzing.

I’ve noticed this whenever I drink Coke and eat any type of chocolate at the same time.

Try putting a teaspoon of sugar in your beer someday. Same thing.

It’s also why ice cream sodas are so fizzy.

Is this why when you add sugar to Sprite, the sugar will drop to the bottom of the glass, then quickly rise to the top?

dazguy2000,

Welcome to the SDMB and thanks for posting.

It helps to have descriptive titles. I’ve changed the title for you.
