Shout is far from a snipe. It’s very short range, shorter than Howl (the cone attack). It’s almost melee. It does excellent damage, though. In fact, the sonic blast set in general does lots of damage.
I find the sound effect for Howl incredibly annoying. “Ah-OOOOGa”. It sounds like a cartoony car horn, not a howl.
