coin-op pool tables

I don’t know if it is of any value, but after cruising thruogh a few of the google ads at the bottom of the page I came across this interior view of a pool table with a “magnetic cue ball separator.”

I have to admit I can not make heads or tails of the mechanism from this picture, but perhaps one of you folks who know what to look for can.

Official Moderator comment: Yeah, Una please cool down.

Cripes, you wouldn’t think a description of the inner workings of a pool table would be so hard to come by. You’d have an easier time getting the drawings for a particle accelerator.

C K Dexter Haven, as of 11:35 last night, Una DID cool down. :dubious:

Maybe if you Googled “coin-op particle cue-ball accelerator…” or “Illudium Q-34 pool table ball return modulator.”

Show off …

All in all, the thread came out pretty good. Appoligies where given where needed ( but for one ) and all is well.

Poor ole C Dex. Looks like he was 'zoom, zoomin and gave a public slap to staff that just showed that he had not read what had been written to date and time.

One of the problems of a place this big and fast.

*:: Kinda like chewing out the help, while on TV, for getting wet when you are standing in the creek. :: *

Sometimes the Official Moderator Imperative for Goodness, Obedience, and Demeanor (OMIGOD) requires that I administer an official comment, even when the particular circumstance is past. (That is, if I hadn’t said something, there would sure as hell have been six pit threads about how I was playing favoritism just because Una writes so many wonderful Staff Reports.)

PS - Notice how no one ever jumps down my throat to say that they personally were at the Library of Alexandria and it wasn’t like what i said. The trick is to stick to stuff that’s long ago and far away.

Talk about particle accelerators wasnt too far off if you consider the Diamond Smart Table, which does have patents, is in common use, does not use over sized cue balls and does not use magnets in any way shape or form. It is a coin-op table and is used at major tournaments (amateur) such as the BCA National 9 ball tournament and the upcoming BCA 8 Ball National tournament.

The table uses regular cueballs (red circles in this case which is one of the best cue balls made) and uses an “optical density sensor” to discern the cue from the object balls.

This table will most likely not be found in your local tavern, but at least two poolhall/bars in my area (west suburbs of chicago) have them.

Quite, but the Judges’ Reprimand-Writing Orders Of Decent Clarity Helping Us Comprehend Knowledge (JRWOODCHUCK) prescribe proper pluperfect phrasing.
