Coin operated CD burners?

So I walked into my local garage this morning, and low and behold - just inside the door - is a new vending machine. Except this one delivers a service. You put the CD you want to burn in one slot, a blank CD in the other, and $5 in the cash tray, and voila.

I’m amazed that these machines have turned up in Australia without so much as a whimper of protest from ARIA. Are they common in other countries, and how is their use regulated elsewhere?

MD burners are not hard to find in video/record stores in Japan. Maybe CD burners are out there too, but I haven’t noticed them. You are paying for the music, part of which goes back to the recording company, so there’s no copyright problem at all.
