Has there been any more research on this? It’s been almost 20 years.
Does it matter if it’s cold? How long do you have before Coke is no longer effective as a means of birth control?
Hurry! Time is of the essence here!

From this Snopes article from 2003, the answer is still the same.

Damn it. Wasted a perfectly good bottle of Coke. Oh well… at least it wasn’t Dr. Pepper. (my soda of choice)
Maybe it’ll be *Krest bitter lemon drinks * next time… (never heard of it before actually).
I’m just thinking: since this was in the '80s wouldn’t CONTRA-COLA already be trademarked in Nicaragua?
Funny this could come up. I saw an article on TV about it just yesterday – A US program named “Mythbusters” was looking at myths related to the various properties of Coke.
Their findings:
Coke did a good job of cleaning chrome.
Coke is great at shining pennies.
You wouldn’t want your teeth sitting in either Coke or Phosphoric acid for 24 hours. But the Phosphoric acid was definitely worse.
And Coke increased sperm motility.
Not very thorough science in any of these cases, but ok TV.
Apparently he watched the same prog as J_sum1
The topic gave me visions of millions of sperm dying screaming “IT BURNS!”
But then I’m in work and its kinda quiet at the moment
Well, for most women I know, it might. Because ice-cold coke would certainly kill the ‘romantic’ mood!
I just wanted to note that one thing giving this idea its staying power might be the fact that it was mentioned in the bestseller Everything you Wanted to Know About Sex (*But were Afraid to Ask)*. In the book, the effectiveness of Coca-Cola as a contraceptive douche was unequivocally stated as a fact.
I wonder how many people believed it, and acted upon it.
I don’t want to cause any unnecessary alarm, but ISTR forcing air into the uterus can lead to embolisms. Coca-cola gives off CO2, which is more soluble, but I would think would also be dangerous
