Coke/Pepsi Regional Dominance

Wow, that map certainly was enlightening. Its surprising just how closely the distribution followed state boundarys. You would think that it was more of a cultural thing but its obviously not. Has anyone come up with a hypothesis as to why crossing a state border changes the word?

Nectar of the gods. My number two reason for visiting, between family (number one) and Cadbury Flakes (number three). Of course, you can see where my culinary leanings are.

South Africa is 100% Coca Cola. You might find the odd tin of Mountain Dew or Pepsi in a 7-11 but that’s imported in from Namibia and not bottled locally.

So why are soft drinks so much more expensive here than they were back in Kentucky?

Michigan has no predominance. I’ve always been more of a Pepsi fan. Both my wife and my ex were Coke drinkers when I met them but I converted both of them!

That’s a good question (and a different OP): I just moved from NC to KY and have been pleasantly surprised that soft drinks, beer, liquor, and even most groceries are cheaper here than in NC!

And speaking of the OP, around here (judging by what I see in people’s baskets at the Super Wal-Mart), the answer is Ale-8-One.
