Places where Coke is not the best selling soft drink

Not by a long shot in Waco, Tx. Dr. Pepper outsells it by about 5-1. Of course, it is the birthplace of Dr. Pepper. It is the official drink of Baylor University. Actually, most of central Tx is likely Dr. Pepper territory.

Any other soft drink anomolies?

Well, there’s my house.

I don’t like Coke.

The employee break room at Pepsico Headquarters.

Taco Bell
KFC
The UIC (Illinois Chicago) campus - all pepsi products

I’ve been to a number of hotels that only had Pepsi products in their vending machines and restaurants.

Well, it 's true…

Long ago on Wall $treet Week with Louis…

You remember Louis?

There was a guest who specialized in worldwide soft drink sales.

Don’t know why I recall this, but when he was asked about the #1 drink in the WORLD…Coke or Pepsi?..he had an interesting answer.

He said the most popular drink in the whole world (one that was sold in almost every culture) would be an orange soda.

I’d guess the Netherlands. Nor is Pepsi.

The most popular softdrink would be mineral-water [Spa-rood]

Sorry, as of 2 months ago, coke is now the most popular drink on Mars… just beat out the local drink “Tryqqbiyiiertypzckz”
Well actually, it is only bottled locally but manufactured on Uranus.

damn Coca-cola and their lucrative 10 year contract with the University of illinois, tehy just optioned the last 5 years of it, meaning all campus buildings serve coke…bleh!!

MPSIMS?

Yeah, MPSIMS.

New New York, year 3000. It’s Slurm all the way, baby.

I’m a little stunned. I really thought there would be places, as in cities or regions, where Coke is not number 1. My question was “Cafe Society.” The answers have all been MPISM’s. Maybe I will have better luck here.

I recently read a non-fiction book set mostly in the Middle East, and it seems like people are always offering the author a orange soda.

Mr. Ruckheyser (sp?) may have been correct, though I don’t know if there’s one particular brand…

Interestingly enough, McDonalds sells “Persia Cola” in Iran. I suppose it sells better than “Great Satan Cola”.

Pepsi outsells Coke in Western NY (Buffalo/Niagara Falls area). My source is my mother, who does reseach these things, but still, I think citing my mother is clearly MPSIMS territory.

At my college, both Coke and Pepsi products are available, and A&W Cream Soda easily outsells anything else.

Iraq! North Korea! Iran!
…well, that is why they’re part of the axis of evil, no?

I fear Mod Ike acted too fast. There is a factual answer to the OP. There are only two countries in the world where Coca Cola is outsold by a local soft drink.

One is Peru, where their Inca Cola reigns supreme. This doesn’t worry Coca Cola Company much, as they market it.

The other is Scotland, home of Irn Bru. Barr’s Irn Bru is the no. 1 seller in Scotland. Always has been, probably always will be.

Sadly not, Coke overtook Irn Bru last month. I’ll see if I can find a cite.

Here you go …

I’m doing my bit by drinkin’ a can of Bru right now.

Jesus, don’t ANY of you muffinheads know the forum descriptions yet?

Please point out to me where discussion of soft drinks, whether factually based or not, belong in the forum devoted to “art, drama, literature, movies, music – all the artistic disciplines – if it’s about art or entertainment, it goes here.”
