I predict: “penultimate” is going to go the way of “begs the question” and morph into being used interchangeably with “ultimate/final”. I know (or hope) Stephen Colbert knows better, but he did call this his third and penultimate green-screen challenge. Boy I hope he has a fourth and final one.
Him decked out in the five-neck guitar was too cute, and how he clumsily applied the “blood” to get out of dueling with the Decemberists guy.
The best was Kissinger’s deadpan “Crank it up”.
The creepiest is Frampton still using that voice-changer thing.
It had its funny moments but I have to admit that I start getting bored when Colbert goes off the “Conservative Talk Show” route and into playing guitar or dedicating twenty minutes to space cartoons.
Yeah, Tek Janssen needs to die in a flaming crash. I thought the ep under discussion was lame, although Kissinger was funny for once in his life. On the other hand, TDS has been gaining ground. The ep a couple of nights ago, the one with his riff on Miss USA, was hilarious.
So true. If you ever need an example of what us old-timers are talking about when we tell you that the difference between the bands of old and the new guitar heroes today is the difference between music and noise, here it is.
(This has nothing to do with whatever the Decemberists may sound like on their albums, BTW.)
Ah, Chris was just goofing around. You know, get the pointiest guitar available, get the crappiest 80’s digital tone possible, and use as many tricks out of a ‘how to shred’ magazine as you can fit into a minute. He smokes the pedal steel and hurdy-gurdy IRL.
