(Neither mundane nor pointless but I wasn’t sure if this would fit in Cafe Society)
I just searched and didn’t see a thread so I thought I would bring this to the attention of the Doper community. On Monday, Reddit.com started a campaign to donate money to DonorsChoose.org (one of Stephen Colbert’s favorite charities, seeing as how he is on the board) to convince Colbert to hold a rally of his own. The thread that started it all is here. The initial goal was to raise $30k, but the total giving as of this writing has topped $220,000. Since Monday. Of this week.
I have nothing to add that isn’t in the Reddit link, but reading some of the teacher responses really tugs at your heartstrings. It’s unbelievable that there are so many schools here in America with such basic needs that have to be met by generous strangers on the internet.
If you’re interested, the link to donate towards the “Restore Truthiness” campaign is here.
