Stephen Colbert Donated What's Left of his SuperPAC money

…mostly to Hurricane Sandy Relief (and some to organizations fighting for political money transparency).

I got an email today (was on the Super PAC mailing list) with these bits (after explaining his fictitious SuperPAC mastermind Ham Rove had died):

$125 K to Donors Choose
$125 K to Team Rubicon
$125 K to *Habitat for Humanity *(all 3 for Hurricane Sandy Relief).

$125 K to *Yellow Ribbon *(for wounded soldiers).

The rest to the *Center for Responsive Politics *and the Campaign Legal Center.

Thus ends one of the most brilliant and responsible pieces of satire ever.

He’s one of menschiest mensches around. Good to hear this; thanks.

Yeah, I caught that on his show last night. Kudos to him for getting this out there into the public mind and eye - at least a little bit - since most people are just trying to slog through the day and wouldn’t really give a crap about campaign finance reform otherwise.

Well, maybe they still don’t, but at least some worthy causes got a boost, both $$ and publicity.

Video clip here. Good for Colbert. And because I am so rarely right about this kind of thing, I want to add that this is what I predicted last month when Colbert transferred all of his super PAC money to a secret new Super PAC. The Super PAC saga was great, although I doubt even this charitable act will get Colbert promoted to the U.S. Senate.

I wish we had a Ham Rove memorial conference room at my job.
