Colbert's Doom Bunker

What can I say? I love the guy and both he and Stewart still deliver the goods quite regularly.

But last night’s Doom Bunker? Out of the park, and one of the funniest things he’s done in a while. Especially with the nefarious twist:

A Werewolf Congress!

I was in tears watching that. “Jimmy, more fog!” Oh yeah, and the baboons humping in the split-screen spoof. The man is psychotic.

The military guy had no sense of humor though :(.

I am so sick of people coming to me every day and asking me about the latest doom scenario (“but some guy on Fox news said it could happen!!!”) I called a friend of mine last night for her birthday, and ended up getting in a fight with her about something she “read somewhere” about the stock market.

Watching Colbert made me feel so much better. The next person who comes to me with a doom scenario will be told, “Yes, I know…and Congress will be taken over by werewolves!”

Holy Jesus, that was abnormally funny. Thanks for the recap. I missed last night’s episode.

OMG that was the funniest thing Colbert has ever done. I was in tears for the whole Doom Bunker clip.

GHOST MALLS!!!

Next SciFi Channel movie title, you betcha.

Don’t eat your money!!!

Did anybody else think his regular guest was on speed? The guy was twitching like mad, sweating, and running his mouth off. I think Colbert had to cut him off at the end. I had to watch it twice just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.

Rhost Rhalls!?

STEPHEN MOORE:

Dude, weren’t you listening; soybeans!

Although my DVR records Colbert, I haven’t watched in a while. Today, for no apparent reason, I sat down to watch.

I’m really glad I did: I was literally laughing out loud (by myself no less)

Excellent episode! The guy* is a comedic genius.

  • And his writers

I have been arguing with family members. Those clips cheered me right up.

Nope, thats too sophisticated for a made for the SciFi Channel movie

Do you mean he didn’t get the joke? Or that he wasn’t any good at playing along with it?

I thought he got the joke,* and was trying to play along with it by playing it totally straight. I agree his timing wasn’t the best, but I don’t think it evinced a lack of sense of humor so much as a lack of stage performance chops.

*Really, how could he not have?

I wasn’t sure if he had decided to play the straight man or if he just didn’t get it. Especially since the other guest seemed to start bewildered and then got into the goofy swing of things.

Could we save the economy by luring the Werewolf Congress to the Ghost Mall and letting them battle it out? It’s so crazy it just might work.

You’d think by Werewolf Congress he’d have clued in.

Between that and the Scientology bit at the beginning, that was just a brilliant episode.
