Hey, my parents’ cat is also named Pi!
Last night when the power went out, my cat Santi was extra snuggly. I think it had more to do with the fact the laptop was not on my lap for once than him being afraid of the dark.

It’s better than the couch or carpet, which are at room temp of 70° or so.
I’d love to snuggle with my cat, but she doesn’t know how not to use her claws despite my best efforts to show her otherwise. So we compromise and she snuggles up on top of the comforter I’m under.
Our little chocolate black princess, whose first year it is, had a constant routine over the summer :- she’d wake up when I got down, gawp at whatever I was doing (god, humans are so strange), have some breakfast, and basically head out to explore for the day.
Lately she’s coming back in, and pretty much snuggling wherever she’s welcome. My daughter is delighed (the feline is hers).
So am I, truthfully. I’d forgotten how calming and peaceful it is to have a cat sleeping in your lap.
Simple - you’re warmer than the 68-to-72-degree room :).
I too noticed that our overlords snuggled more when the mercury dropped. I miss feline headwarmers :(. (Somehow the guinea pigs just aren’t a good substitute).
Right now, HRH Cleo-Kittyface is curled up at my feet on the footstool with half the lap blanket on my feet and half over her. Bless her, she’s 17 now and seems to love the snuggles more than ever.
Mama Zappa, piggies are good to snuggle with…till they go “A-WHEEEK!” and pee on you !
It doesn’t matter if it’s 90 degrees or 9 below, my big Gordon Setter boy Nick HAS to snuggle. He cuddles as close against me as he can and usually tosses his head over me protectively (or maybe he’s just using me as a pillow, not sure…)
This is real fun when a hot flash hits…
I share my bed year round with 5 dogs and 2 cats and they all like to snuggle.
My husband just got out of bed. He says that the younger male has settled into the foot of the bed, and is NOT coming out. So, again, the cat gets the bed made while he’s still in it.
:::snicker::: True, but which, unfortunately, is about 15 minutes :).
At casa Scubaqueen, two of the three superkitties are big on the snuggling. Turk remains aloof. If he’s in the mood, he’ll snuggle - but not often.
I keep my house fairly cool, so if I’m downstairs, I usually have a cozy felt blanket to cover at least the lower half of me while I’m on the couch. Yesterday, when the mercury dropped rather precipitously, I found myself the ‘creamy filling’ in a cat sandwich of Widget and Maggie.
The girls had tucked themselves up not only under each arm but also somewhat under the laptop tray, so not only were they mostly covered up by me and the tray, they were also on top of the felt blanket, so they were extra comfy. Turk was nearby, all curled up in one of the chairs.
There was much complaining by the girls when I eventually had to get up and answer the call of nature.
A similar scenario presents itself at night. I have Widget curled up against my stomach (I’m a side-sleeper) and Maggie wedged in behind my knees. Poor Turk still isn’t allowed up on the bed. I haven’t had much luck in changing that.
Getting out of bed in the middle of the night can be problematic. I’ve learned to feel around for Widget before I move. At 17 weeks, she still isn’t very big and I’ve trapped her under the covers more than once. She really lets me know she doesn’t like that…
I went out for a bit on Sunday afternoon and when I came back in the house, my husband groaned that me coming home disturbed his “kitty blanket”. As soon as it gets a little cold in the house, they both want to be on a lap or spread out on your legs when you put your feet up on the couch.
Our kitty doesn’t like to snuggle but our rabbit doesn’t mind. This morning, being let out of the cage was his idea! Lucky for him, I was already wearing an overcoat which protected my nice clothes from loose fur - I’m dressed up today for a holiday party at work. Held him for a few minutes then he indicated he’d had enough. It was about time to get to the bus stop, anyway.
Put a cushion for him up on top of a dresser, high up overlooking the bed. He will probably enjoy that. Cats seem to like to be higher up than the other cats in the room.
