Weird spots you have found your cat snoozing

On the ironing board.

On top of a WET sweater which was spread out on the kitchen table to dry under the fan.

No, the cat was not regularly permitted on top of the kitchen table or anywhere else there was likely to be people food.

The other day Oliver pulled the cushion off the chair and slept on the cushionless surface. Weirdo.

When I was young, we had a cat that once went inside our fireplace while there was a fire burning and lay down next to the flames.

Inside my “carry” tool box. The top tray was out and when I went to put it back together, there was the cat. I left alone and just waited. How anything can sleep on a set of wrenches is beyond me.

  1. Curled up on the soil of a large potted plant.

  2. On top of the other cat.

On top of the television, which is on top of a 6’6" dresser with a surface barely bigger than the television itself, necessitating a daredevil jump from the window ledge to the dresser and a mad scramble up on top of the television. But I suppose it’s both high and warm, so it doesn’t surprise me much.

Our “basket cat” will substitute the bathroom sink if it’s hot out. We think he likes the cool marble.

Not mine but my aunt’s previous cat (now deceased) was an enormous good-natured Maine Coon. His reaction to stress was to fall asleep so whenever she took him to the vet he’d doze off on the exam table, the X-ray machine, etc.

My cat likes to sleep on top of my printer. She’s also tried to take a nap on top of my monitor - an impressive feat in these days of LCDs.

I’ve found Cleo, our indoor kitty, asleep on the storage rack that is on the bottom of my Quaker Parrot, Sami’s, cage. Also found her sleeping on top of the printer [not plugged in], in the bathtub and burrowed into a teeny tiny spot between the dryer and the wall.

Our barn cats, Jack and Spike, seem to like the barn roof [Jack], in the middle of the round pen [both], on top of a saddle [Jack] and on the bannisters around the house [Spike]. In the winter I’ve found Jack napping on top of one of my horses, which is Death By Cutness but I’ve yet been lucky to get a picture of this.

Was the horse standing or laying down?

One of our cats used to sleep in a plastic bag we used to carry vegetables and grocery in . She will be sleeping in the bag and my father will carry the bag at least 100 meters far from my house before letting the cat out !

It was fun to watch !

Lying down, thankfully!

OK, I totally win this thread. We took in a pregnant stray cat a couple of years ago. The kittens LOVED to sleep in my husband’s golf bag. They’d all climb the bag and fall asleep up there. Drove mama cat crazy.

On top of a telephone pole.

Well, I assume he slept, because he was up there for several days.

Years and years ago, we had an inside-outside kitty. One of her outside sleeping locations was INSIDE the car engine compartment, though I couldn’t tell you exactly where she slept. Apparently, it was a place with no moving parts, as on one occasion my husband took the car to work, heard meows when he got out of the car, and opened the hood to find Midnight. He gathered her up, took her into his shop, and told his boss that he had to take the cat back home. His boss didn’t want to know any details, just told him to get back ASAP.

Today, we just accept the fact that if it’s a horizontal surface and at least 6" X 6", sooner or later there’s gonna be a cat snoozing on it.

This goes back to the days of my youth. We had a litter of 6 week old kittens. They managed to get to climb six feet up the drapes to the top of a bookcase to all pile into a giant teacup my mom had up there. Spent hours searching for them until I spotted the tail hanging over the edge.

the boys fight over the lone bathroom sink. they both love to sleep there. i have promised the boys that any bathroom reno or new house will have 2 sinks.

my girl is a climber and will sleep IN the drop ceiling or on top of the highest piece of furniture, a few inches shy of 9 feet tall. no boys can get her there.

I once woke up to find my cat sleeping on my face; not cute at all, more terrifying.

On books - large-format, typically fabric-bound or -cased, left flat on the coffee table or floor.

On an ottoman - nothing unusual in that, except it’s embroidered with dogs.

My cats have been known to fight for that seat. What the fuck!

Recently I found the Littlest Gray on top of the fridge, under the cabinets and behind all the “top o’ the fridge” stuff. Just a little face peeking out. I nearly passed out from teh cute.
