Last night I fell asleep on my left side with my arm around a large pillow. My cat, Pi, snuggled in between me and the pillow. In the morning he was still there and I was still in the same position, which is odd because I tend to toss and turn, I think the cats wedged against my back kept me from turning, but it’s also odd for the cats to stay in one place all night. At least I did not need a blanket.
I am always amazed by the increase in cat snugglers when the weather gets colder. How does my puny 98.6 provide warmth to their 101 degrees?
Anyway, mundane and pointless. Talk about your animal bed warmers if you wish.
My 30-lb excessively fluffy cat lurves to snuggle whether it’s 9 or 90 degrees out. He especially enjoys sitting on my lap when I’m all hot and sweaty from doing yard work (joy.)
He also sleeps cuddled up right against my hip (I sleep on my back) every night so during the summer I tend to have the air conditioner set on “ice age.” That, of course, makes him even more snugglier.
All 3 of my dogs have been super snuggly the last few days, even though it hasn’t been too chilly in the house. I spent yesterday night snuggled on the loveseat with Iggy on my lap, Ginger curled by my side and Holly curled by Ginger - in front of the fireplace. I was trying to do my homework. I wasn’t totally surprised to realize that I dozed off for 2 hours. It was hot with all those bodies and the fire!!
I want that pillow … [or a link to where I can get it or the pattern for it? pretty please?]
I have noticed that the older a cat gets, the more it likes to snuggle under blankets where it is warm - my last 4 cats were obtained as kittens or fairly young dump off on a random farm in the middle of nowhere [may they rot in hell, or be reincarnated as kittens that are not as lucky as to get dumped here] and were nonsnuggly until they were about 5 or 6 years old. My current fuzzballhas just changed from a sleep somewhere in the living room to wanting to sleep in that warm spot between mrAru and myself, and regularly naps with me tucked in under an arm [I sleep on my side when I nap]
My cat Smokey (passed away during melamine crisis), was quite the cuddler in chilly weather. Loved to share my pillow at night, so much so that I woke up with a crick in my neck pretty regularly, from sleeping with my head at an odd angle to accomodate both of us. His nose would be right be my ear, a little kneading in my hair and both of us would be soothed to sleep. I sure miss him.
My doggies are quite cuddly this time of year. All are shorthairs so snuggly and blankets are right up their alley!
My husband says that he knows it’s time to break out the humidifiers when he gets more than two cats sleeping with him at once. The younger male is famous for crawling up the side of the bed and going to sleep under the covers during the day. He has to climb the side of the bed because the covers are tucked in at the bottom, and pillows are on top of the covers at the head of the bed. If you uncover him, he glares at you because you’re letting cold air get to his nose.
When my husband watches TV, the cats take turns sitting in his lap in the summer. In the winter, though, he’ll sometimes get all four cats with him at once.
The cats don’t like to sit or sleep with me because I tend to fidget too much. Oh, they try, but I have to shift positions frequently. So I have to make sure that I cuddle them several times a day.
She sure did. I have another needlepoint pillow that she made and a bunch of crewel embroidery pictures I rotate seasonally.
Getting the subject back to cats, he likes to snuggle with the pillows because of the skritchy wool yarn so they end up being more like 75% wool 25% cat hair
Cats have started to pack in as the temperature drops. Nijel the Destroyer, roughly the size of a polar bear, on one side with Mrs. Peel in between my husband and I. New for this winter is the mighty Leonidas, up to three pounds now, with his preference for sleeping against my neck and in my hair. If Milo and Pearl decide to join it may be time for a bigger bed.
Yep. Colder weather brings out the snuggle in all creatures. I was sleeping on my side with my arms crossed this morning, and Havoc (our largest cat) crawled under the covers and forced her way into my arms so she could sleep against my chest. On the downside, my wife told me that after I left for school, Caelan fell asleep on her belly. When a gust of wind rattled the shades, he bolted from a sound sleep…straight into the wall.
At 10.30 pm, if my ex was home, Beth used to get off her perch on the couch and go into the bedroom. She would curl up on his side of the bed so that when he went to bed, she would be snuggled right next to his chest. Tasha would sleep between us the beginning of the night, but by the time we woke up, I would have both cats on me. Beth would sleep on my chest and Tasha would be on my legs…
My old cat was a snuggler in the winter time. When I’m sitting at the computer she would walk infront me on the keyboard back and forth letting out little meows, until I placed a pillow on my lap so she could sit on it. She used to like to sit on top of my old CRT monitor but I didn’t allow it.
While sleeping eventually I’d hear the thump of her jumping on my bed. She’d want under the covers as well, usually curl up near my arm pit. Then of course she’d have to wash herself before taking a nap, slurp, slurp slurp for a good 15 minutes drove me nuts on a few occasions. I’d scream out Pinchaus !!! Stop it. Silence for a few seconds then back to slurp, slurp, slurp. I just gave up.
Iggy (the black one) likes to sleep under the covers when it’s really cold. Holly (pointy ears) does the slurp slurp slurp but it’s usually my boyfriend’s bald head or my cheek. Ginger spends hours slobbering on her foot. The same foot. All the friggen time. They all do this while we’re trying to sleep. It is very distracting when you’re half asleep.
I sleep a lot on my side. My dachshund Nathan crawls under the covers and wedges in behind my slightly bent knees. He doesn’t get annoyed if I have to turn over, or move, either, unlike my cats. They get all bent out of shape if they have to move from wherever they are snuggled.
My Siamese cat goes from assertively snugly to deranged pillow cat. He sneaks into bed, pushes my pillow and sneaks under my head to take its place. Then he radiates heat at fusion temperatures and purrs.
