May God have mercy on those who can’t or won’t appreciate the fincer nuances of subtle humor.
Actually, I think you just have that kind of effect on people. I don’t even know you and I find you annoying. Sweeping generalizations are a bit frowned upon in places where ignorance is fought, so please feel free to educate yourself, or at the very least, keep your racist comments to yourself.
And for those of you that don’t think he was being racist, replace “dutch” in his post with “black,” “jew,” or “gay.”
Honestly, suspenderzzz, while you may have intended it as subtle humor, it read to me as gross stereotyping and an unprovoked slam at Dutch people generally and Coldfire in particular.
Some weeks ago, I got Pitted for a couple of posts that seemed to people to be snide and supercilious towards an issue on which I didn’t have strong feelings and had just briefly commented in with an intent at ironic humor. I took the message, and have modified my use of irony a bit. Assuming you’re on the up and up, can I suggest the same to you?
Oh, I get it. With apologies to Bernard Wooley, it’s one of those irregular verbs, isn’t it? Like “I’m subtle, you’re humor-impaired, he’s an asshole.”

Never assume that if people fail to laugh that they “didn’t get the joke”. IT could just be it wasn’t funny.

Liar! subsequent posts had no-where near the number of smileys as the first. In fact I suspect all but the first post had very very little effect on the crashing of people’s browsers.
It seems some people can’t take apologies. I realize what I did was annoying and obnoxious (after people told me it fucked with their browsers - under other circumstances I would find it hard to find a lot of smiling faces to be obnoxious). But some people in this thread have spoken to me as if I shat on their dinnerplates.
I know that nothing I say will avoid the shitty replies that some people love to give (emphasis on ‘some’). That seems to be the way the sdmb is - some people love being bastards.
And if this thread has taught me anything - it’s to NEVER MASS SMILEY POST AGAIN! so leave me the hell alone.
I apologise to Coldfire - The subject of my original rant (your closure thread) is nothing compared to the shit that comes from some people’s keyboards.

It always amazes me to see folks who’ve dug themselves a hole continue to dig deeper and deeper. You did a mildly jerky thing by posting the original thread. When called on it, you repeated mildly jerky behavior twice. Mod comes along and closes it. Do you learn from your experience?

I think it’s pretty simple. When people point out that your behavior is annoying, you can choose any of several paths:

If you wish to continue to annoy, by all means, repeat the behavior ad nauseum.

If you wish to cease to annoy, cease the annoying behavior.
the path you seem to be choosing is :
- You wish to claim to not want to be annoying, but you don’t want to change/cease the annoying behavior.
that approach doesn’t generally work well. YMMV.

Look the minority of fucking superior dopers pisses me right off! I think I am bloody entitled to annoy in return. And no - I am not ‘being annoying’. I am defending myself which I realize is futile! but because I am only human I find it very very hard to give up the fight. Annoyingness where none is meant is a problem of the person who percieves it. (basil fawlty George Kastanza etc…)

I am sorry to hear that people have lost loved-ones to suicide. And I wasn’t trying to offend anyone who lost a friend to suicide.
But I think it is low (and wayyy inapropriate) to say that I am deeply offending people by pretending to commit suicide.
