Few things piss me off more nowadays than this “new age defence” which states that a person who has acted like an asshole towards someone else thereupon has some sort of mitigating circumstance which absolves them of personal responsibility simply because they too were once the subject of assholish behaviour.
All of us are responsible for our own behaviour, and to portray one’s self as a victim merely to excuse one’s own lack of graciousness is a bullshit excuse for mine.

And why wouldn’t that apply to cuauhtemoc and the others in the thread? I can see that Andy overreacted to the OP and took it too seriously, but how cuauhtemoc got from that to “mysogeny” is beyond me.
blowero you should check Andy’s history in the “Conservative Dopers…” thread in the Pit and “Feminist Utopian Fiction” in Cafe Society. In the first, he claimed that feminists “have long wanted a Final Solution” to create a female-only society. When asked for a cite, he claimed that feminist fiction offered such a thing. Then he started the thread in Cafe Society, where he claimed that I had said such a genre did not exist. Blatantly false: I’ve always said that I wanted a cite for his factual claims which he’s repeatedly refused to provide. What’s fun about the Cafe Society thread is the way he gets walloped by people who’ve actually read the books he only Googled. In one shining example, he rants about a book that was written in 1915, claiming that it was the product of the ‘male-bashing Seventies.’
The posters who pointed out his misogyny have tangled with him before, and remember his behavior. If you’re female and you complain about something, you’re a 'victim’whiner; if you bitch about something, you’re a ballbusting hairy legged man-hater. He’s repeatedly claimed that ‘feminists’—not extremist feminists—want to dominate men and eradicate their rights. Stuff like that tends to indicate something about him.
