I’m gonna go out on a limb here in the PIT (for me at least)–I agree with SAD’s points, but certainly not the way he presented them, nor with the accusations of “crying victim.” He could just as easily have said “Look, you may be kidding, but here are some facts that back up the concepts that prove your rant to be a little emotional rather than rational.”
I say “may” because I don’t think he realized the thread was using humour. I say “emotional rather than rational” because to me, the rant was purely blowing off steam and not immediately admitting other possibilities–which is not to say that the OPer did not consider the other possibilities–she may have just been blowing off steam, which she is perfectly allowed to do.

Actually, I thought that was a pretty effective cite. We draw inferences like that from fiction all the time. For instance, for people familiar with the book The Turner Diaries, Tim MacVeigh’s fondness for that book speaks volumes. Fiction is a representation of people’s hopes, dreams and fears. That feminists write longingly about a world without males says as much about them as that racists write about white people rising up to overthrow the international jewish conspiracy ™.

We do have those on both sides who go way over the edge from time to time, but it does often seem that the right-wingers who do so are Pitted maliciously and with greater frequency.
The “center” of the board, if we took everyone’s political spectrum and found the median individual, is to the left. Thus, you have to go pretty far off the liberal deep end to get pitted, and usually have to be doing something else pretty bad (like plagiarism) to get the full force of the board’s ire. You could probably dance around the board celebrating Communism and never get pitted, but posters are routinely pitted on the whiff of a hint that they don’t fall 100% in line with the gay rights agenda, for instance.
On certain issues, at least, there is a leftist slant to this board, that can’t be denied.
Maybe it’s just me, but I got the distinct impression Guinastasia forgot that she’d posted an hour and a half earlier to that same thread. Look at the times.
The messages are pretty much the same, ‘You Suck’ (Then again, they almost always amount to that) but the timing of it all struck me as… well, odd.

Well, actually, no. I recall at least a couple of posters DID get pitted and eventually banned for doing just that. Their only reason for posting seemed to be furthering an agenda, which is against the rules.
