Me posting yes or no an apology for misreading intentions behind a thread title, has in my opinion nothing to do with others posting comments on a quesiton I asked clairobscure considering the languages known by someone he mentioned to have discussed the issue of the OP.
I don’t post in Palestine/israel threads for the simple reason that that issue has the potential to really work on my nerves.
(I have no idea what you meant by your A, B C comment or to what if refers.)

I’m pretty sure you’re from SA because they have a great many wealthy people who sometimes marry Europeans, like your father did; that you married your first wife at age twenty, which means you’re not in some little tribal village because you’d have been married long before that; that you no job or means of support that we can discern (surely no university would put up with such sloppy research for long); that you nevertheless have the money to travel to the US and Europe for pleasure, and a weeklong(!) wedding ceremony, despite the tragic early death of your father; that you majored in ‘Islamic studies’, widely considered the easy major for Saudi youth; that you have such a large household staff that you recently created a moving MPSIMS thread on the death of your old governess; and that you get your news mostly from sources available within the Kingdom. Aldebaran - I agree that you could be a great asset to this board if you would just calm down a little bit.
Sometimes people will piss you off and sometimes you will piss people off; it happens to all of us here. Just don’t take it so hard, and don’t assume people are always trying to piss you off.

No I did not. The discussion got that much derailed that I even didn’t went back to re-read what I wrote. I agree completely that my reaction on that title probably comes across as not called for to someone who is not Arab. It was inspired by the wording of the title which was a direct insult at me since I am after all such a “Filthy Arab” as that sentence refers to.
Afterwords clairobscur explained why he choosed that title. I still don’t see the reason behind it, if that comes from a chatroom or not. People who do not open the link read only the title.
So why should I apologize for calling something bigotted that is I perceived by me as insulting and bigotted simply by the fact that it is there in a thread title?

Sure it does. Manners have EVERYTHING to do with how you are treated. If you post in a adversarial manner, you will be treated in that manner. Don’t get me wrong, there are times to be so, and with gusto. I just think that you picked the wrong time. I still like you either way, but I do think you owe her an apology for slamming her on her thread title choice. I actually found it fit the OP quite well, and lord knows I’m not on the opposite side of this issue from you.
I hear that, even though I often dive in when I know it will just frustrate me.
This refers to a practice which I stated you have not yet fully engaged in, that I have seen, but that you seem at times to be treading awfully close to doing. While you now avoid them, it’s happened so many times that you’ve seen the example I’ll give. It happens quite frequently in the threads where an Israeli government action is criticized. It goes something like this: “You all always criticize Israel, but never the Palestinians. Do you think suicide bombing is okay?” Once again, I don’t see that sort of thing by you yet, just sort of hints that you are moving that way, but keep in mind that someone NOT mentioning something is not the same as condoning it.
I wish you well, and hope you are around for a long time to come. I truly mean the little criticism as purely constructive.

Maybe you have an other understanding of that sentence then I do. He opened the OP with the train story, which is very much in line with the intention of the title. Then switched onto saying that this part of the OP was not the intention of the thread. His discussion with people outside this website related to the train story was the intention of the thread.
Now you tell me what that title has to see with that, other then declaring what it declares, while the discussion must go about the reaction of people with whom C. says he does not agree.
I forgot to answer your remark about titles of “gay threads”. If I was gay, I would most certainly be insulted by such titles. I’m almost certain that many gay people posting or reading here are.
No I don’t and I shall never do. I see similar comments coming whenever posting something about Iraq. It has slowed down a bit recently, but being called US hater, Saddam lover etc… was a real joy to wacth since you could predict when, where and by whom it would be posted to you.
The US hater is of course still available. As are now and then comments on me being Muslim and Arab on top of that, which myust lead to… (see post above of Mehitabel giving the readers a “hint” where I live, what I do, what I studied and read “because” of this.
You can not hope to make such people other then they are.
