I’m still not entirely sure what our (my brother and I) plans are. As soon as the little wienie wakes up, I’ll get him to clarify.
I do realise this. I said lobby for convenience. We’ll be hanging around wherever we can meet people arriving.
No caffeine yet, so I’ll keep it short. I got this from http://www.lawa.org/lax/laxframe.html
Arriving passengers should be met at Parking Lot B (111th Street and La Cienega ). Arriving passengers may also utilize commercial ground transportation which is available in the CTA ( this includes door-to-door shuttle vans, taxis, limousines, rental car and hotel and parking lot courtesy vehicles ). Additionally, buses will be available to shuttle passengers to all LAX remote parking lots.
The link is a map.
If anyobody wants to carpool from the Glendale-Burbank-North Hollywood area let me know.
In the last thread I offered to keep track of and distribute a list of cell phone numbers and real names. I’ve got a couple (and by that I mean two), plus mine. If you want to send yours for coordination purposes, please do and I’ll distribute them out only to the other people who have sent theirs in. I’ll get the list out by Thursday, 10/18.
Of course if you don’t, I’m sure Nymysys, Mauvaise and I will have loads of fun calling each other and talking about y’all behind your backs.

That’s enough incentive for me – I don’t have enough girly chit-chat in my life
Email on it’s way!
Sent my number too slackergirl even though I’m not arriving until Saturday.
I can’t miss out on talking about people behind their backs!
Mine’s on the way as well
I cannot WAIT to meet you guys!
I wonder what the weather will be like. This time of year, there is really no way to know. It was really warm last week, but for the last three days, it’s been cool enough that I needed to wear a light jacket in the daytime.
You out-of-towners ought to know about a weather phenomenon called “Santa Anas,” which is when the wind blows from the desert to the sea instead of vice versa, as it usually does. I’ve seen the temperature go from 65 at dawn to over 100* by noon during a Santa Ana day. There is no way to know if we will have a Santa Ana next week, so be prepared for either blistering heat and high winds or chilly, foggy conditions all day long. It could go either way.
*Fahrenheit, of course.

Oh, I hope the Santa Anas are blowing … I’ve missed them. No, really.

Me, too! When the Santa Anas blow, they get rid of all the crap in the air and we have gorgeous, crystal clear views of the mountains along the coast. And down here by the beach, the Santa Anas don’t create the kind of heat they do in the valley. It’s always cool down here. (And it’s downright cold at night - so do bring jackets, even if only for after sundown.)
FYI, if you’re planning on checking the forecasts online before you pack, don’t look for the forecast for Los Angeles. If there isn’t a specific forecast for the Redondo Beach area, find one for Torrance (there’s one here.) There can be as much as a 10 degree difference between L.A. and the beach areas. For instance, the L.A. forecast shows the nighttime temps only dropping to about 61/62 over the next 4 days, but Torrance will be 54/56 (and trust me, Redondo will be several degrees cooler than that because of the wind coming off the beach).
Hey, just wondering if anybody coming in Thursday has room on their floor for me. I’m driving from Vegas Thursday evening and was planning to sleep in the airport and wait for people who need rides, but it doesn’t look like the airport’s gonna be too cool with letting me use them as a B&B. The room I’m staying in isn’t booked 'til Friday, so if anybody’s got room Thurs. night and doesn’t mind my natural odors, I’d be most grateful. I’m willing to pay, of course. Depending on how I do in Vegas, anyway.
I am well and truly bummed to report that I will not be able to make dinner, due to work schedules.
However, Mr. Seawitch and I will try to head north later in the evening - maybe we can meet Dopers for drinks or something? Has anyone decided where that might happen?
slackergirl, I’ll drop you an e-mail with my name & number. Just in case.
If I had no other reason to live in Los Angeles, I would live here 11 months of the year just to be here in October when the Santa Anas blow… my memories of warm, windy nights on Halloween… the best. Which is why when I get married, it will be late October.
They are beautiful, if you are partial to wind at all, which I am.

I imagine it’ll be happening all around that particular zip code.
And there might be a late-night strip joint excursion, for those interested, or at least, those who are not already knocking boots at the hotel.
Hey woodstock, what time would you be getting into town? I (well, I don’t, but the person I’m staying with does…) have a room for Thursday at the Ramada. I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem for you to crash there too, especially considering it’s only one night.

Hey! I wanna get in on that!
Hey Silver, thanks a lot. I should be getting into town around 8:00 or 9:00pm, depending on how fast I speed. That would be great if you could hook me up.
