Jesus, remind me to never suggest anything fun again, at the risk of my own exclusion.
How about this? Maybe I’ll sit around the hotel and pound sand up my ass with a mallet. Anyone up for THAT?

Johnny L.A. was so kind as to post his experiences trying to pick someone up at LAX in This Thread.
Folks, bring cab fare, just in case.
Well, if it would make you feel better I could suggest a few fun things you and I could do that would exclude everyone else.
Well, you can absolutely count me out of any strip club activity. With all the great stuff that L.A. has to offer, this would be the last activity that would interest me in the least. I’ve done my best to seek out activities that everyone in our group could participate in, including those under 21, with no helpful thoughts or input from anyone else and this is what you come up with? If this is what you prefer to do, you can have your dopefest without me.
Shayna, I’m with you. This excursion isn’t on my activity list either.
You are doing great at organizing this.
Jim
Aw, Shayna. Lighten up doll, Manservant stated that it would be a late-night excursion. Whatever we have planned will be done by then, including the dinner. The consensus was that people would hang out at the hotel afterwards and drink. If some people want to wander off to a strip club late at night, that’s fine because it’s not intefering with any prior plans.
As for things to do Saturday, perhaps a trip to the Santa Monica promenade or the Getty or who knows? Anywhere.
Diane - if the appropriate dress is anything other than blue jeans, I’m going to be out of luck. They’re all I’m bringing. Oh, and shirts. I’ll wear shirts, too.
[sub]DAMN![/sub]
I haven’t been to L.A. since the '80s, so I’m not a great source for what to do. But I’m up for a Saturday excursion, and I will have a car.
I love you, Merc. I’m working on your fake I.D. now.
Bite me, Brian.
I’ve busted my ass to make accomodations for everyone, from gathering motel information (calling all of them for rates and availability and actually DRIVING to them to see how close they are) to calling dozens of places to make dinner reservations, scouring local papers for events that are happening and looking for activities that everyone can participate in.
This is a dopefest, not a sleazefest. Grow up.
Well, I’m not too keen on going to a strip club either, nor does the idea of just hanging out at the motel drinking all night sound that exciting (maybe half the night - the second half, from 2:00am to whenever we pass out). So for those of us not up for the strip club excursion, does anyone have any other ideas? Go check out the Viper Room or the House Of Blues? Chill on the beach? I don’t know anything about L.A. nightlife, but I’m sure we can find something fun to do.
Depending on how early dinner is over and what’s going on, I know some people that play music around the Redondo beach area. I think they are very good and I’d be willing to see if they are going to be playing anywhere Saturday night for those of us who wish to do something other than go see nekkid wimmins.
Damn, I just checked their calender. They have a private party that night
Oh well.
Whoa!
The last thing I want, and I am certain that everyone agrees with me, is for there to be a sense of who’s pissed at who and have people feel like they are walking on egg shells. This is supposed to be a great time and I certainly don’t want it ruined by hard feelings.
Please?
It is my understanding that we are all meeting for the dinner (you’ve done a great job in planning this Shit Girl :D) and spent time doing other excursions during the day. I think it is wonderful that Shitina has been able to work things out so we can all be together!
However, there are people arriving and departing at different times. Some people may want to shop, others may want to walk the beach, others may want to hit the museums, others may want to take in a late night strip joint.
I don’t think it is reasonable to assume that everyone wants to do the same thing as everyone else during the time we haven’t planned on all being together. I also don’t think it is feasible to expect 60 people not to branch off and do other things.
Again, I am asking that we pretty please do not start this Dopefest this way. Please?
FWIW, I’m not interested in going to a strip club. Woody’s idea sounds good, go out and hang at the beach, bar or something, then go party back at the hotel. That’s what I’d been planning on, unless I get really comfortable at the hotel early and settle in to some heavy drinking there.
Oh, I’ve got a few ideas of my own
[sub]You do know how to play…parcheesi, don’t you?[/sub]
I think we all agree that Shayna posisted a false dichotomy. This gathering can both be a Dopefest and a sleezefest. Oops. Sorry, I think I was in GD mode there for a second.
In any case. Diane was right - there will be 60 people there. There is no way everyone will want to do the same thing. The dinner will be the large gathering, and there will be plenty of other options for the rest of the weekend. Some people will want to spend more time with others, other people will insist on being at opposite ends of the table. All of that is fine. We have a large enough group that everyone will be happy.
So, basically, what I am saying is. Lets all have fun. Everyone bring me cherries, peanutbutter M+Ms and rum.
pat
PS:
I figure a cool place to hang out in Redondo will be found, and the bartender will be fond of us, and our booze proclivity. So, the strip clubbers will be able to find us when they are done with their business. (And broke. ;-))
PPS:
Shayna, thanks a lot for all the work you are doing. Dealing with a crowd this large is stressful, but in the end it will be worth it. Specially, when we all chip in to buy you a crown made of tortilla chips. I think they sell that at El Torito. If not, they should.
In reality, i’m not interested in going to a strip club either…gay OR straight. Anyway, i do like Woody’s suggestion, those sound like cool places to go check out.
So like please everyone, let’s not get upset here, I’m sure that 60 people wont be able to agree on one thing to do (save for the dinner).
Anyway, here is what I am bringing. I’m being detailed because I am bored :).
Jeans: both from structure. “Carpenters” style. Chemically worn on the tops of the thighs. Very nice, very comfortable.
Cargo pants: both from Anchor Blue
T-shirts: Curious George (From Anchor Blue), A long sleeved short sleeved combo (gray sleeves, and navy body), Long sleeved khaki number, probably one regular t-shirt :).
Mebbe a sweater if it gets too cool (i doubt it…i come from Monterey…it’s usually cooler here than there).
Shoes: just my Vans.
There you go. I am a supermodel!
Anyone able to answer the questions I asked on the last page?
