What is the etymology of “cole slaw”? Somebody out there knows what this means.
“Cole” is a plant such as cabbage or a vegetable of the same family.
I’m not sure what “slaw” is. I would guess it might mean “salad” or maybe “mixture”, but these are total WAG’s.
(Remember, the oo in Dutch is pronounced as an English long O (as in Roosevelt, not as it was corrupted to the English oo/tool/school sound in Hoover.)
Does that apply to the cigarette brand Kool?
