Collateral for test drive

So I’m selling my motorcycle through classifieds.
No doubt any interested buyers are going to want to inspect it and probably want to test drive it.
What’s the best way to handle this? Do I ask to see their liscense to make sure they are liscensed to drive a motorcycle? Do I hold onto their liscense for collateral? What if they drop the bike? Am I screwed?
What if they take off on the bike and I never see them again? Will the cops be able to do anything if I have a guys liscence? He could take off out of state, the police make a report, I never see the bike again and I’m out $9000?

Or do I just refuse to let them test drive it?

Ask for a current license and proof of insurance before you let them testride it. Keep the keys to their current transport as collateral. If they walk up, don’t let them ride.

I would only accept their car as security if it is registered in their name.

BTW, my cousin let a guy test ride his bike and he never saw them again. We used to laugh at him all the time for this but now we only remind him once in a while.
